the positives; (so sorry I went to 10)

+1. Drafting The juniors. Edwards debut is a standout highlight. that youth, pace, engine
and lovely skills on the big stage. A big sign that drafting and development has got it right.

+2. HONESTY. WE aren't world beaters and unlike 95 and 01 the results reflect where we are

+3. Consistency. The variance in our results isn't that big. This is such an important step towards success.

+4. The more established youngsters in the seniors are doing a good job. That is critical.

+5. 2007 draft. At this stage we will get someone who will make valuable future contributions.

+6. Coburg: read the coburg reports. The draftees are developing very well on their own.
At some stage they will take their places and pass their replacements on the way out.

+7. Competitive. We've been in every during the fourth quarter.
We CAN go a fair way with all the teams so far

+8. Off field. Pretty good.

+9. Personally i'm pleased that tivvers is going ok

+10 Polak and Schulz.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

-1. I can feel that 'eat our own' feral hysteria brewing

-2. The media's loving our position; it sells wood mulch.

-3. We haven't won a game.

-4 Performances of older players

-5 Injuries.

DDT

OT, but I noticed I couldn't see anything in the VFL report about Coburg on the weekend (edit, in the H Sun), am I blind or do they hate us when we are going well too?

POSITIVES

1. The Coburg Kids - The promising signs showed in these young kids has been the far and away the most promising thing so far this season.
2. The Improvers - Nathan Foley, Jay Schulz, Brett Deledio and Richard Tamblings improvement has been pleasing in the seniors.
3. The Supporters - 29,000 members with more to come, we are the lifeblood of this club and need to be paid more respect.

NEGATIVES

1. The Coaching - Some of Terry's moves have been baffling and confusing, just lost a lot of faith in him this season.
2. The Leaders - The club has been let down by its leaders on the field, we need to move on from this.
3. The Losses - 0-4 with all games at the MCG has been disapointing, if were that bad at home, wait for us away???

It's interesting to note that despite four defeats, our points for is inside the top 8. Our forwards have kicked just two points less so far than West Coke, who have won all four. So far we are sixth, ahead of Adelaide, Hawthorn, Lions, Sydney, Collingwood, Saints, Kangas, Melbourne. Had we kicked four points more in the season so far, we'd be fourth.

The big difference is in points against, where we are 14th, only better than poor, hopeless Melbourne and Carlton.

That tells me that our midfield has learned to attack--and has been able to sustain a lot of attack throughout our four games--and that it has been able to deliver to the forwards. It also tells me that either our defensive pressure is terrible, or our defence has gone backwards big time. Or both, which is how it looks to me.

I reckon that's good news on balance. Our points for over the whole of last year were pretty ordinary. It's harder to make goals happen than defend; a lift in our defensive efforts would make a huge difference to our results. We might be a bit closer to success than things look on the surface.
