Who is Wisdom Of The Crowd?

couldn’t find his ladder prediction on the first few pages

I must have missed something…..
Mopsy , The Ghosts Torp came up with the collective group's average of picks for the ladder positions of teams, or something akin, and named it Wisdom of the Crowd. Mainlandy included it in the final list and we have been competing against it. It's proven to be a very average average.

So, I have proven to be truly abysmal at this, and yet I love it. Spiritually Scientific approach this year. I have averaged the ladder positions since 2016, looked at trends and tasted the wind. Here goes:
I was looking back through the thread for the WOTC origin and came across Knighters original post.

Could be some money to be had for developing the formula to work out a dead last outcome predictor. KR Spiritually Scientific. :D

Wait till I get my formula working in the Thoroughbred thread! I can smell the money...although Corona killed my senses, maybe that's something else I can smell?

Well it came down to the wire and I had to check the results many times of the top 2 finishers, and there was only one point in it with Midsy (50) hanging on by one point over Quickdraw (51). Congratulations Midsy a deserved win as you were on top for most of the last rounds. Quickdraw (Port Adelaide, Western Bulldogs, GWS, West Coast and Carlton) and tigaman (GWS, West Coast, Fremantle, Carlton, North) both managed to pick 5 teams in their exact positions, a great effort. Gold1 had a horror last round and has finished a long last.

Leaderboard after round 23

Haha, was just looking at how the last round shuffle affected Midsy's score. Went from 6 correctly-placed teams to 2!

Well done Midsy and thanks for a great comp, mainlandy.

(NB I also got Brisbane right.)

Congrats Midsy. Made every post a winner and hung on like Might and Power being chased down by Doriemus (Quickdraw).

Thanks for hosting, mainlandy. It's a ripper comp and probably a ball ache to tabulate each week.

Thanks @mainlandy for running this comp again. It's my favourite.

Congrats to @Midsy . It would have been an injustice if you'd not won it. You were killing it all season.

I can make one prediction - if Midsy runs it again for next season I'll be predicting Tigers for 3rd!
Go Tigers!

One team from top 4 misses finals altogether - my pick Cats
Three teams from outside the 8 make finals with one jumping into top 4 - picked Freo to be the Bolger and Melb and blues to play finals.

pies and saints to fall away

Great comp - really enjoyed it, first time I had a crack and missed by a mile.

Even the ‘theory’ didn’t help - normally 3 changes to the top 8 year on year, this year there were 4.

Who would have picked the tigers to be the top 4 team to bomb, I thought, perhaps hoped, it was going to be the cats.

I had Freo, Carlton and Melb being the three to jump into the 8 - it’s the last time I will listen to the hype coming out of Princess Park. :) Sydney the bolter and Essendon well, a claytons finalists.

4 changes to the top 8
tigers, saints, West Coast and pies all fall out replaced by Melbourne, Sydney, GWS and Essendon.

Yeah Baby! Top ten and beat that dirty average WOTC. I feel like a champion after my Pick 3 effort.
Congrats Midsy and Gold1. Commiserations Knighter. Looked a done deal last week.

Thanks Mainlandy. Always fun this comp watching the surge and fade round by round.
My favourite comp by far.

Good point. I need to appeal the ladder placings. Surely with 3 correct teams I should be above average, not below average.
I've had a chat with WOTC and he started humming that Angels song, you know, where the crowd sings "No way, get *smile*, *smile* off!"

Looks like you are stuck with it.

He is a right *smile* though.

:p
