PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

No 1 - Ladder position

Tiges to make top 6 - Qualifiers (back pedalling stuff) . This assumes a good run with injuries and full uninterrupted seasons to Simmonds, Brown, Foley, Thursfield, Deledio, Newman and Coughlan (tough ask for Cogs I know!). Still expect improvement with average run with injuries say about position 7 -10. A bad run with injuries will see us bottom 6.

N0 2 - Breakout years

Chris Newman - will go from solid player to elite wingman, will be a 20 plus possession wiingman who will use the ball well kick long goals, win hard balls and do all the team things.

Kelvin Moore - rightio the crown jewells are in being lowered into the vice as we speak - had him stamped 'goner' early last year. Has the tools skill wise and physically but no appetite for the contest. saw a qualitative difference in last few games and VFL finals. Prediction very fragile but if Kel conquers his doubts and puts body on line will be a Wellman/Ben Hart rebounding half back who can play tall from time to time.

Deledio - as a semi permanent forward will kick 40 goals plus - will win games off his own boot. Will be top 3 in Coleman at some stage of the year

Jack Reiwoldt - to become a jack of all trades this year playing half forward and half back. His skills and judgement will start to show out.
Will inspire quiet awe and whispers as the year progresses. Will be leading contender for rising star (if eligible).

Polak - will cement CHF position - will kick straight :o

No 3. Tiger all australians

Foley, Newman, Deledio.

On AA fringe Simmonds Brown Pettifer and Kel Moore.

No 4. Quiet achiever

Jarryd Sylvestor - After an injury to Jay Schulz mid year will be promoted off the rookie list and play solid "Greg Strachan" footy at full back culminating in a wonderful finals series

No 5. Norm Smith medal

Richo and Sylvestor tie.

No 6. 2009

I believe tiges will finish higher in 2008 than 2009 but then have sustained success from 2010 onwards. There are many intangibles at play this year. Browny and Richo are nearing the end and have one more great effort left. 2008 is our centenary year and this should lift the team and also moderate the negative third party perceptions which could create a band wagon effect in our favour and hopefully neutralise the umps as well.

So sayeth the sheep!
