Press Conference

It gets what should be an honest opinion of how he feels about the teams performance... simple! no bull.... not bringing up last week, coburg, his tanning habits.... just a straight evaluation of what has just happened!

I watched the 7 news report just now and the fans leaving the game were calling for Wallace's head. I am a little unsure this is the answer. It is easy to blame him for it all but in doing that - you are letting the playing group off too lightly. They are the ones making the on-field decisions. I am sure that Wallace doesnt teach the boys to not chase, to turn the ball over and to kick it to the opposition, not chase and not tackle - it doesnt make sense he would do that. That is beyond his control yet it is something that is happening week in week out.

If you ask me, the players are the ones that need to answer to these loses. The pressure needs to be on them. They have shown no respect at all for the jumper they are playing in and only they can turn this mind set around. Players should be made to apologise to the fans and to Wallace for their performances.

The easy option is to sack Wallace but I dont see that as an answer at all. I certainly do not want Campbell coaching us that is for sure. I have witnessed his midfield coaching in the last 4 weeks and I'm not a fan. We cannot blame Wallace for that - although some will find a way to do that.

I'm sticking by Wallace - to me he is not that bad of a coach - but we do need to look at others around the club and we do need to look at the recruiting staff. Its now a matter of pride, we need select players that want to play for the Tigers and be part of a team - something they have not done to date this year. They should be ashamed of themselves. They are a disgrace to the Yellow and Black heritage and the fans that support them.

I am ashamed at the reaction of some nearly as much as I am ashamed of the results today.

You have my support Wallace - for the rest of this year at least. Please March, come out in support of Terry before it gets any worse.

If Telstra don't make a profit they sack the ceo....if coles don't make a profit they sack the ceo....if wallace doesn't make an impression in five years he should be sacked and the soober the better.

At least get a different feel around the place rather than go thru the motions and waste a season.

Well something needs to change and you can't sack the players...

And Wallace is eventually responsible for the players being here, their skill and execution, and the game plan.

Terry really needs to go. There's no other option.

Wallace recruited (or had significant influence in recruting) the players and he is responsible for developing them. He is also ultimately reponsible for their physical size and strength (did you notice how much bigger and stronger looking Melbourne were?), their understanding of the gameplan and their motivation to win. He is an abject failure in all of the above. After 4 years he needs to show cause why he should NOT be sacked.

I don't know if it will make any difference, but it might, thats good enough for me. Wallace won't be there next year.

I was interested when he was asked again if he would quit and he responded by saying it would be hypocritical to do that, and he has already stated he wouldn't. He asked the players to fight and not give up at half time, and he said it would have been tough for them after the abuse they copped in the walkway at half time. So he can hardly go and give up now when he is asking for them to not do so.

Didn't he give up at the Bulldogs and quit on the players before the season was out? :P

And some don't think we have a culture problem...

What is really annoying as a supporter is this.
He deflects questioning and smiles at the same time.
He did state that we won 3 quarters, oh dear. :clap :clap :spin :spin :spin ::) ::) ::) ::)
Supporters are bleeding and he just smiles away.
He wont be smiling when he is tapped on the shoulder on Monday morning ;)

perhaps he should front a press conference with the supporters asking the questions...
and every time he spins we are allowed to throw our shoes at him....

You should learn about big business before making silly comments. Some guy called Sol turned Telstra to dirt and walked away on his own accord with a maginficent golden handshake. Besides that, Wallace is not the CEO he's the equivalent of a high level manager, and the Tigers have been making a profit.

For what its worth I think Wallace's tenure is over. I think he should be made to stay as part of his contract but with the proviso that the focus is on blooding and given experience to as many youngsters as possible (within reason). The focus should then be throughout the season to earmark certain prospects as potential coaches for next year. However, there needs to be a much deeper investigation into the operations of the Richmond Football Club. There has to be a cultural issue permeating through the club.

He did say in his presser that the supporters have probably got 400 questions and the coaches have to....sounds like a deflection blaming the players .
ah Terry Wallace , Marketing Man Extroardinaire

Wallace is just building a bigger hole for himself with this rubbish spin to the journos. They can tell that he's just covering all the problems in which we want answers for. He's making himself look more and more deluded every week.

Tezza's no one priority (before he goes) should be to get the players united and enjoying their game. Also, look what Guus has done at Chelsea so why wouldn't a quality interim coach work?

Any quality interim coaches in mind?

I assume I heard the entire presser, but what really got me is that from what he is saying, it was just our poor work in the contested ball area that cost us today.

Yet, from where I sat in the Southern Stand, that wasn't the reason why Matthew White and Dean Polo seemed to stuff up every time they got the ball, why Brett Deledio had no impact at all, why Troy Simmonds handballed to a Melbourne player who was all on his own, and why our gameplan seemed to revolve around players handballing as much as possible until they find a teammate in a hopeless position.

SKILL LEVEL AND AWARENESS TERRY FFS. And you have had 5 years to bloody well fix it.

And for him to indicate that he was pleased with the effort after half time, please. :o

Phil I feel your frustrations. He recruited these duds, and as a result MUST PAY WITH HIS JOB!!!!

I love it! :clap

my only beef i guess is that for 2 of 3 games we've been beaten in contested footy and today we we're once again beaten. forget it was Geelong we beat. 3 of 4 is not good enough.

i was really surprised one of Coughlan or Thomson wasn't in the side this week. they are contested footy getters and should be in there next week. this is certainly they case with our non-competitive ruckman.

time to get Cogs in there this week. love to see him getting the footy and firing out some decent handballs.
