Such a pity to see him injured again. As for the comments about how he is contracted until 2024, don't care, without Dion I don't know if we get any of those flags. More than happy to pay him until then for what we have received.

Don’t forget it was not soft tissue that derailed much of his 2020 season. It was a syndesmosis. He’ll come back and still play a meaningful role in 2022. I’m backing the meatball in. Go you tigers!

Totally agree, great post…if Lynch doesn’t improve, same goes for him, he’s worth whatever we paid and keep paying

The loss of Rob Innes cannot be underestimated.

I'll be watching Sydney's injury list closely this year. I suspect we have lost a very important cog in the machine.

I wouldn't be rushing off to Germany, that's really a last resort when you have a specifically reoccurring injury.

In Prestia's case it is soft tissue stuff but spread everywhere, a right calf, then a left hammy, then a left calf etc......

To be brutally honest I don't think his body shape is suited to the loads he needs as a midfielder. He's about 177cm and probably playing at 82 or more kg. Lambert is a similar body type, 178cm and 77kg. Prestia probably needs to drop 5 - 7kg to give himself a chance.
Would less time on ground help him? I know he’s a two way runner, but he’s also our best clearance player (I don’t have the stats for that but he seems the only player to consistently find the ball inside and get it out)…last year RCD was playing only 60% TOG to play to his centre bounce strengths. I wonder if we can have two specialist centre bounce players who only play 60-70% TOG, would have to play only one specialist ruck and Balta as second ruck. Prestia (when rehabbed) and Sonsie with Dusty in the middle and rotations from Shai and Graham. Did Cotch attend centre bounces? If he did he was totally ineffective

Buddy Franklin played the last 15 games last season, and the Swans had just about everyone available at the end of the season, Innes has made a big difference already.

Send him over to Dr Wolgang Frankenstein for some calf’s blood and *smile*’s comb injections.
Unfortunately his repetitive soft tissue injuries mean we’re odds on to be a man down whenever he plays
Is that where you got your third ear attached Willos ? Bloke sounds a genius.

Anyone really think Prestia would get through the season unscathed particularly after his pre-season issues? He's missed large chunks of seasons in 3 of his last 4. He's just too injury-prone and you have to ask yourself where to from here. He's such a good player and person, it's just such a shame.

Pardon?
Dr WolfFrank can do wonders Redfords as you well know. He enquired how your lobotomy is going for you.
I told him, “simply outstanding and getting better” *channelling the late, great Tommy H*

Can’t believe how quickly Jon Ralph has jumped off the Tigers bandwagon.

Hope it comes back to bite him on the butt soon.

Dion Prestia's latest injury an unmitigated disaster: Jon Ralph

“Lets not sugarcoat this, Richmond‘s latest hamstring injury with Dion Prestia is an unmitigated disaster ... hey just can’t trust his body anymore,” Herald Sun reporter Jon Ralph said.

“They’d believed they’d bulletproofed him, he had a flawless pre season. Only nine games last year off a calf injury and multiple hamstring injuries. They felt they’d actually cracked the code.”

Leigh Montagna, like many, felt for Prestia.

“He‘s done all pre-season, he’d be so keen. He’s so important to this team,” he said.

“Those contest numbers and ground ball numbers really dropped away in the second quarter and Dion Prestia had such a good first term.

“You feel for the young man, to miss that much footy in the last 18 months, it’d be driving him nuts.”

Jon Ralph reports one thing.

Caeser reported that Prestia was on light running duties with Lambert and there was a period of several weeks where he wasn't seen in full training with the team.

Who to believe?

He's right about one thing though... without Prestia our midfield is cooked

The taxing footy style has helped hasten the demise of our engine room as well as father time.

Prestia and Lambert are shot to bits physically, which considering they were two of the main runners in our success they've run themselves into the ground.
Jack Graham has never had an extended run of fitness seemingly and also has been a power runner during those years of success. Throw in Cotchy and there was our 4 runners in the middle doing the very heavy lifting.

Bash was completely cooked physically last year with his calves, and ankles and so was Dave with his achilles and knee issues.

Nank too is becoming more prone to injury the past 2 seasons especially.

Vlastuin is becoming a regular rehab group member in the last 2 years as well, and Sheds and Jack are a year older too.
Yet those old bastards at the Moggies just keep rolling along year after year. Must be something wrong with our rehab or supplements program.
