PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Was disgusted by todays game. Left Etihad Stadium feeling like my heart had been torn out. I'm really feeling hollow about the loss and am left wondering whether any of our players deserve to wear the RFC guernsey & represent our club.

It made me wonder about what can be done to show players that to wear the RFC colors you must be deserving. i feel its about respecting those that have sweat blood in the past for our club and that to get that honour you must deserve to wear our colors & you must show pride every time you represent the RFC.

After todays game our entire side needs to be taught a lesson about representing the RFC.

What we can do:
- Every player should have to hand in their guernsey this week.
- An ex player/coach (one that has represented us with distinction such as our legends, EG/ Tommy Hafey) should address the players about what it means to represent the RFC.
- The side picked this week (and there should be several changes) should be presented with a RFC guerrnsey by an ex player/coach of distinction.
- Each player selected must make a commitment to wear the RFC guernsey with pride.
- Each week if a player is dropped they hand in their guernsey.
- The Coburg guernsey should be the traditional Coburg colors (i'm not sure if this works as a home/away thing at present). Only players in the seniors wear the RFC colors (guernsey), not Coburg players.
- At the start of the year players are only presented with their allocated number on a training jumper. They only get a RFC guernsey on selection in an AFL senior match (not NAB games).
- Players getting their first game for the RFC are presented with their guernsey in a special ceremony (this could be on Punt Road oval or on the ground during warm-up on game day).

Look these are just ideas. There may be other ways but i am really lost for how we can change things. I'm just sick of insipid perfomances (we have been pathetic in 2 of 3 games) that happen far too often. After today we/you know the main culprits. They have been mentioned in many other threads.

I only want players who show pride in our footy club that are deserving of representing us. It is an honour to represent the RFC, not a players right. Those who want to commit please stand forward. Otherwise hand in your jumper now and **** off.
