Priority Pick on track for 4 teams by end of the season

This is hard to fathom but if Melbourne, West Coast, Fremantle and Essendon all lose this week (and based on who they play it looks highly likely) then at the halfway mark of the season with all 4 teams 2 or less wins, they are in line with similar second half of the season performances, to get a priority pick. This could mean then that if we finished say 10th, we would get Pick 7 but then not get another pick until 27th. All I can say is just as well its not the old system where the priority picks came at the top of the draft, where we would have only received Pick 11 instead of 7.

Think we might see a big 4-way tank to get those extra draft picks considering it could be the last before the new teams come in and take away the cream.

Do they get a priority pick after one year? I thought it had to be less than 5 wins over 2 years? Can't remember how many wins the demons had last year but it wasn't many....they might qualify but not sure about the other 3?

or you could look at it this way..... we could not win another game for the season, finish 12th and get pick 1 !

(very negative thoughts before a big match - bad grumpy bad)

I believe that if you win 4 games or less two years straight you get a priority pick at the start of the draft. Richmond and Carlton will qualify if we don't win any further games (unlikely). Melbourne won 5 last year so they won't qualify.

In each season, if you win 4 games or less, you get a priority at the end of the first round of the draft. Those teams mentioned by GoodOne would therefore qualify, along with Richmond and Carlton if neither wins a further game (which won't happen as we play each other in the run home). At least i think thats the way it works. ???

On the money mate.
Less than 4.5 wins in one year you get a pp at the end of the 1st round. eg we had pick 18 last year as a pp (if carlton hadn't had pp 1 prior to 1st round, we would have had pick 1 and (pp)17 and pick 18 (instead of (pp)18 and 19)
Less than 4.5 wins for 2 years pp prior to 1st round. eg carlton pick 1 last year.
We finished last and in effect got pick 2 after carltons pp (pick 1).

this year only Richmond and carlton qualify for pp prior to the 1st round.
Other clubs who get pp this year will be at the end of the 1st round.

Further to that if we and carlton had pps, we could have say p1, carlton p2 and depending on finishing order (our 1st picks ) us p3 ,carlton p4, then melbourne p5, bombers p6, freo p7 then other clubs in reverse finishing order then (if they qualify) pick 20 becomes pp for melb, 21pp for bummers, 22pp for freo.
pick 23 becomes our 2nd rd 1st pick then the rest follow.
Depending on the number of clubs qualifying for pp.

Hope thats clear enough, bit convoluted I know

Hmmmmm so we play these guys again do we.

I wonder if this time we can beat the TANKERS at their own game? :rofl

the way we've played in the second half today, after such a disgraceful effort last week, we might not be far off a priority pick ourselves
