Priority Pick

The present bottom three teams Fremantle, Carlton and Melbourne all play each other twice and to add to the possible scenario we also meet each of the above twice including Melbourne in the last, by which time I imagine the Dees will be pretty much like the walking dead.

We lose that game especially if picks 1 and/or 2 are at stake then the Carltank howl will be mutiplied by ten. Carlton and Richmond are the only two with a chance for a priority pick, if I think either win less than 4 1/2 games.

Judging by what I saw yesterday two things emerge. One is that we are a good chance to take a priority pick and two is that I won't be surprised if Bowden and Brown are playing in their last seasons.

I think your wrong on all personally!!

I don't think that we will get a priority pick
But after the loss I did start thinking bout next years list (I know it is early)
I won't tell you who I thought would be delisted/retired/traded as it will no doubt change before years end

but on the recruiting side we should start getting into the ears of most of the Geelong list
as most are out of contract at years end

BTW bet the Dee's wish they had have lost to Carltank in round 22 last year ;D

Carlton have lost 13 in a row :rotfl

Lose next week and they equal their 1901 record of 14 straight losses

lose the next two and they are carlton's worst ever!! :rofl

they have ess this week and then the pies and then the dees...

::)Will you guys ever stop encouraging LOSING? The last time I looked our guys had two arms, two legs and a head, just like all the other teams. We DO NOT need another priority pick, just a fair dinkum game plan that encourages responsibility, not one that holds back to toe the party line.LET THEM PLAY for a change.LET THEM take chances.LET THEM have a GO.

Why on earth does everyone go on about priority picks - some of our better players have not arrived at the club that way?

Foley & King were rookies and I reckon the top 10 is a bit of a raffle these days

Look at Palmer - #7 i think?
Selwood - same?

Cheer up momentai. :grouphug

We've got 20 more wins to hope for and enjoy before we start our finals campaign. Well might be a tad ahead of things thinking about finals but it's sure a lot nicer thought than priority picks and losing.

Thursfield was a rookie selection too, 1st pic 2004 rookie draft

It's sounding like the Gold Coast team will have the first couple of picks, stockpiling them for a couple of years and playing in the QAFL until the AFL club comes in.

While Tambling is one of my fav players and I believe he will go on to be a great mid for us, would you really hope for a whole season of losing just for another Tambling?

I'd rather give Deledio, Cotchin, Polo, Riewoldt, Pattison, King, Foley, Thursfield, Edwards, Hughes Connors, Rance, Collard, Meyer, Morton, Collins, Casserly, Jon, McGuane, Tambling etc a legitimate winning culture.

Why risk the development of our ENTIRE LIST by losing all year just for another average high draft pick?

I have lost a lot of faith in the philisophy that high draft picks bring you success, it's too simple, too easy, and the playing list know it too. How could you not 'expect' success to come if you were playing for a team such as St Kilda who are filled with high picks?

The hard way for Richmond is the right way. No more shortcuts and easy unrealistic plans.

its only a raffle at richmond.

foley and king are just 2 of about 35 odd rookie selections over recent yrs. tivendale is the only long term player we have had thru the rookie list yep it really is the way to go ::)forget about getting quality picks hacks thru the rookie draft is the way to go.it doesnt get any sillier than that.
