Watching Geelong the other night, Ling and co, were always into Lower or whoever was tagging Ablett. Why dont our players give Foley a bit of protection and help him out ?

to busy protecting their own over inflated egos.

in all seriousness though - working for the team and doing the team things just isn't their.

I mean there flat out talking on the field to let their team mate know their about to get tackled. alll the junior footy stuff needs to be re learnt at Tigerland.

Why help yr teamate? Its every man for themselves at our club. i swear by the way they play they dislike each other or at least still have little groups that stick together just like in high school.

Johnson and Tuck do a reasonable job of clearing space in the middle. Axel was a bit unlucky to run into Shirley without Sugar's support on the weekend.

Probably not that much you could do anyway. We tried plenty. Played Foley all over the ground. The thing about Shirley is you can lay him out but he'll get back up. Still, it would have been nice to see him laid out.

Some fans won't have seen much of Shirley. He's the one that doesn't get much cred. Ordinary outside skills. Rough kick. Gets his four or five clearances a week and usually shuts down a much higher rated player. And almost always starts in the middle.

Foley won't get many tougher opponents this year. If any.

BTW we took Nicholls and Fleming when Shirley was available to us as an experienced youngster in the 2002 ND. He had shown plenty of football smarts and character but may have needed a kick up the arse. Anyways, redrafted by Adelaide. Punches a stone over his weight. It's not that we targeted the wrong type. Just, as usual, the wrong specimen.
