After that you've got Hall and Polak :P, and then back to Plan 'A' - Bowdo playing at CHB. You see it as plenty, I and some others see it as thin ;D

Our AA CHB as the third option? Now that's what I call depth. ;D

He's played there through necessity, not by design. He's done it really well eh ToO, filling the gap no one else could - but you surely don't rate that as his biggest possible contribution to the team? I think he's as good as Lucas (Ess) capable of playing dominant roles at both ends - except we can't move him to try it!?

Bowdo in dominant roles at both ends? Hmmm...there's been a lot sillier ideas touted. ;D

He's been incredibly effective off HB the last 3 years, I'd be loathe to move him too far.
He really is our General in defence. I think he and Polak could work very well together. This is clearly the plan. Polak does the heavy work and Joel sweeps. Lets hope its not the other way around. ;)

Eventually I think JON will play Joel's role but it is a way of yet. Who would cover Joel?
It'd be great to see him utilised in a forward role, if nothing else but to provide him with a new challenge. I wonder how he'd go at CHF?

PS: What do you think Perry will bring to us that we don't have already?

He would give us the ability to play Polak at CHF if that is Wallet so desired. You know he loves flexibility in players, our Wallet.

When's your optomitrist's appointment again ToO? ;D

If he has the makings of a solid to good player, he's certainly going to fill a void and add some flexability - and likely to give Schulz more fwd time IMO - which can't be a bad thing can it!

You must think we have sufficient flexability down back - I don't, as mentioned previously as well (Gaspar an Thirsty for 2007 are hard to rely on). Make particular note Old of Tiger, that I'm in the camp that considers Joel Perry worth a serious look at, and if he's good enough, then act. The knowledgable ones will know ;) ;D

I still have a hunch the RFC will continue to look for youth. We won't participate in the PSD i'd think. You'd reckon, if the draft is this strong, that there'd be so much research done that a Matt White won't slip through this year. All picks used this Sat, for mine.

happy for that as an option after at least considering elevating Howat and picking up one extra kid as a rookie.

We know Howat is ready, we know the kid most likely won't be.

Yes hopefully they will know and all options will be explored.

I think you are also forgetting about Moore & McGuane here pharace.
We should be giving every opportunity available to these guys this year to prove themselves or perhaps they also should have been delisted.
Both are just as likely at this point to be successful defenders as Perry and are if anything probably more suited to a fullback role than a 196cm defender.

I'm hearing plenty of differing reports on JP, not all of them good. This is quite possibly a case of the grass being greener on the other side.
I also find it interesting that he's still training with the Kangaroos despite being delisted. That says to me there hasn't been an enormous amount of interest from other clubs. Anyone delisted from the Roos must have question marks over them. :-\
Laidley has said he was delisted to free up space for youngsters on the list.
Perhaps we should be concentrating on fresh blood in a talented draft year as well. 8)

Well he was offered a one year contract, so clearly he's not a bad option, and this is confirmed by him still training there. Geez remembering Moore, that is a hard one, remembering when he played last is even harder ;D McGuane was and still is a project player I'd say. It's a bloody big drop off from what we've got, to counting on them in 2007. But I do agree the chance of taking Joel Perry is slim, and hinges on what our people really think of him when compared to what might be available in either drafts (depending on where he nominates - he may even have been given an undertaking of a Rookie spot with the Roos for all we know).

On the Searching Kangaroos website they certainly rate him.
They can't understand why Laidley hasn't given him more opportunities.

Go Miller Go!

I was keen on Perry before the trading period but once we got Polak then I'm not so sure he's the player we need.

Interesting re Perry, Frances Jackson was on th kangas recruiting staff when he was drafted, Kingy played at kangas with him for 2-3 yrs & Jade R played at kangas & Tas Devils with him last year. I think we would have a pretty good idea if he was worth the punt. IMO it would be as a rookie if he was taken at all.
