Pull your finger out!

A lot are bagging sarge here on his inability to impose imself on last weeks contest/slaughter >:(.

Could the reason for this be that the 'game plan' of kicking from one fwd flank to the other (why ??? ??? ???) have stopped him from utilising his greatest strength which is the fly and the split of the pack.

Carlton used the long kick to the top of the square well last week. With pack marks like richo, sarge, mitch, jack, a play reader like browny and a flukey *smile* like edwards why are we not sending it to the teeth of goal and use one of the simplest yet best attacking moves in footy!!! :help

There was nothing wrong with Tuck's effort last week, nor Simmonds. Their execution was a bit haywire.

And I note no Schulz - is it just the fact expectations are so low he always satisfies????

ill admit the game pan isnt great and i believe that if sarge was to go elsewhere he would probably be a better player as the fact is we already have richo, jack, and lids that can take a pack mark, i think we need someone like hughes to lead out hard and strong and wrestle with his defender (which cleve needs to learn how to do!)

I was asked by Hopscotch for 6 names, it's just my opinion.
Yours obviously differs. That's fine.

I have said in another post in this thread that Jay also needs to extract the digit.
Like many others he needs to lift his performance.

If we are to put on an improved show against the Kitties, then who are your Top 6 of players who need to provide a better effort. And I'm talking effort - not expecting Richo to kick 10 straight, not expecting McGuane to become Silvagni. But who put in a poor EFFORT last week, managed to keep their place but simply must show some pride in the jumper and some desperation for their spot this week?

My top 6 are ...
1) N.Brown
2) B.Deledio
3) J.Bowden
4) J.schulz
5) C.Newman
6) T.Simmonds

Your thoughts?
Of my original top 6 ...
Brown - improved effort. The challenge for him will be to back up next week and not have today as the exception rather than the rule.
Deledio - instrumental in the 3rd qu and it was good to see him impose himself on the game a bit. Was a bit disappointed he seemed to fade in the last.
Bowden - an improvement. I felt much safer when the ball found his hands around the wings.
Schulz - no real improvement although could easily have kicked 3-4 goals. He has me shaking my head as he has the tools. I think we've probably waited long enough for him.
Newman - was a better game but not by a stack. Thought he should have been the one to take Johnson in the last and do a job but he still ran around trying to be a "linkman".
Simmonds - improved effort but clearly helped by Ottens injury. Next week is also important for him.

Was ok I thought with two good quarters and two poor ones.
1st and last not good enough sure but I'll be disappointed if he's dropped because he provided a genuine contest in the air and on the ground which helps with team structure.
If Riewoldt had set up that tap goal for Jay today some would be going into raptures about how clever it was. Probably should have kicked three himself.
Couple more weeks up forward for Jay yet.

Yeah, fair call that.
