Geez Nitro you must've had some inside running... ;D
Actually,I did TigerofOld!But I cant take credit for it...........Im in Warrnambool for a few days.......heard a whisper in the Wrrnambool Footy Club rooms as i was lookin at Grants and Scotty turners records with the team.......and some-one come up and said that something big was unfolding at the saints....and he suggested it could be that Thomas was gone.....I actually laughed at him.......and 2 days later......BANG......Im still gobsmacked over it...
By the way nitro, what is Scotty Turner's record like?

One thing that has surprised me in the Saints saga is the unequivocal support of Thomas by the playing group.

With Riewoldt using words like "shattered" and "angry" to describe the playing groups feelings, what ever mug punters like us thought of Thomas he had the group sold on his beliefs and the direction that he was taking them.

Regardless of the choice of the board to terminate Thomas they did it in a swift, clear, clean manner that didn't allow board leaks or a public farce like Carlton the week before.

Good to see that other clubs have the ability to destroy themselves like the Tigers of Old.

Sure there are quite a few players happy that he's gone.

I think he's been a player's coach in that he always showed faith in his players' ability to carry out his plans and I can't remember him criticising individual players in the media. A case of loyalty being rewarded.

Big change in culture at Moorabbin with the players not knifing the coach as they did with Sheldon, Alves and Blight.

I tried my best to save you but the pricks obviously did not want to know. I think they were afraid of losing their reputation as perennial losers.

at least 2 years too late, their wiondow of opportunity has probably closed

it's good to see other clubs turning into the afl laughing stock, not us.

i gotto say, i really enjoyed seeing thompson get the bullet, but i would have enjoyed it more if it happened on the end of a finals loss to richmond

What plans? ::) (OK boys now get out there and kick it to a mate.)

I can remember him criticising Knobel after the 04 Prelim. And was it Fiora he singled out this year?

Oh and lets not forget the time he tried to get Basher Baker off by claiming he was concussed and didn't realise he was splitting Sugar's head open. (He also named a Tiger for concussing Basher Baker).

Took Warrnambool to 2 grand finals..........and won 1! ;D

Just heard his interview on SEN, what a class effort.

Don't *smile*, don't cry foul. Still claims that he is the best man for the job but respects the boards choice. What ever I thought of Grant Thomas before this has been erased. The manner in which he has conducted himself in the face of this crisis has been superb.
Couple that with the players reaction and firm belief in the Thomas method and clearly you have someone who is a great leader.

Would be fantastic in the Neil Balme role as football manager but his record of getting the incumbent sacked would make any current coach reluctant to employ him. I think Thomas will make a success in the corporate world.

Cannot wait to see the board challenge at St Gilda by Lindsay Fox, things are about to get very murky at Linton Street.

Was that you Scoop that sent a email as a Richmond supporter he swung you over.

No, not guilty your honour. But he has to a certain point. He still made some bone headed selection choices but and been a control freak but I do see him in a different light now.

I reckon he's the polar opposite Coach to Roos

Roos, counts big rucks as key to winning big games, delegates, talks straight.

Thomas, thinks rucks are overrated, autonomous style (coach and FM), and talks in meaninglesss MBA gobberrish (says 10 words when one would have done).

Look who has one flag and is looking goods for a second?

Re. his closeness to certain players, could be a good or bad thing, you don't know unless you're close to them and the club. One more thing, I reckon I could knock out Kosi with a bump. Also re his facing the music, this also could be a downside. All it shows is self-possession, Hitler and Idi Amin were self possessed.

Hear hear I4. His selection decisions and team structure have been terrible. A 40ft pole wouldn't be long enough.
