Not sure if it has been raised but does anyone know if the RFC deos benefit from use of their ground on GF Day?

The club talks about its land position I hope we do capatilise from this. Our club every $$ it can get.

well thats disappointing if thats the case, you gotta wonder who made that call ???

I'm pretty sure Richmond profit from the GF celebrations and it's why it takes precedence over our once held family days.

It's a bit more than just having permission to train there interested. The club lease the ground ( Calling David Clayton for details....... ;D ) and as such I presume the festivities being held there is their call not council arrangements.

Well I hope we get some form of revenue from it. Anything to pay out Krak's contract will do IMO. ;) :hihi

If thats the case they'd probably only lease it during the footy season. They probably alow their lease to expire during the offseason.

correct me if i am wrong but doesn't the rfc own a controling interest in the richmond cricket club , thus have control of the ground all year ?

Yes they do. They have a long term lease with Yarra (I think it is) council. I also think the stand at Punt Road may have some type of heritage listing which may hinder any future plans for the council to sell off the land to make a quick buck.

When we outsourced the marketing functions a couple of years ago, the GF week stuff was included in that deal (but we got paid for the whole deal, so there was some benefit).

I certainly hope we have directly benefited from using Punt Road for this purpose, as in the past it was a lucrative money-spinner for us (even if a former recent coach's wife "apparently" had some involvement in recent past seasons).

As far as the ground goes, the Cricket Club hold the lease and sub-let it to the footy club, so essentially the RFC has effective control of the ground (we pay all the bills etc.)

My biggest concern about all this crap on our ground is that when we actually make a GF (we wish.....), there could be a contractual issue of who has rights to it in the week leading up to the GF and we may not be able to use it for training!

As well, keep in mind that the club has used the excuse of all this stuff on the oval surface as a reason not to have the post-season Family Day - which for many years used to be on the Sunday after the GF (even with lots of stuff on the oval.....)

Funny how we can have 15,000 strangers on the oval today, but we can't manage the possibility of 5,000 loyal Richmond people in the same place a day later..........

Good call David. I just hope the $$$$ makes up for it.

Please be more accurate DC, you can't just speculate.

Let's take over Victoria Park as our extra training ground as it also won't be a hard job to paint those white vertical stripes in yellow.

Thanks for setting the record straight, David.

At one time I was a member of the Cricket Club and thought that was the case but someone on PRE told me that, no, it was the other way around.

You make a valid point about the Family Day and this is where RFC miss out by denying fans this opportunity to gather, with their children, on one day of the year.

I guess the Cricket Club will want the ground soon after the GF and it would be difficult to get on it from now until next footy season but there must be a way to re-instal Family Day. (good way to brain-wash some kids who pick up bad habits like barracking for other teams)
