Punt Road End 2008 Tipping Competition

I'm just back from leave and catching up on the backlog. I have joined the PRE2008 tipping comp and sent $25 into Rosy's bank account in the last few minutes. Hopefully it is all systems go for the season kick-off tomorrow.

Can someone advise when the cut-off time is prior to the scheduled game start for tips to be entered?

There's been a pretty disappointing response to this and only a handfull of people have joined and paid at this stage.

I'll be contacting those who have paid with 2 options a-to refund the money and give it a miss or b) to go ahead but not keep any money for PRE and to use the lot as reduced prize money instead.

If anyone wants to let me know what they'd prefer please feel free to do so. It will save me a bit of time.

Hey guys, I'm waiting for the results to be updated, but we've had a reasonable response to the tipping comp.

Once the website has been updated, I'll post the prize money, and the final ladder.

The last I saw, I believe first prize was $150, second $100, third $50. I'll double check if there's anymore payments been made, and adjust the prizemoney accordingly.

Their shouldn't be a third prize for third imo, $100 for second is too much too.

Better if it was 1st $225, 2nd $75.

Thanks to General for organising the tipping comp and thanks to all who joined in.  Because there wasn't as much participation as initially anticipated I've instructed General to use all of the money contributed for prizes rather than keep any aside for PRE running costs.

If anyone would like to participate in a similar comp next season let us know. I found the site too slow for me to put my tips in this year but will be there with bells on next season when our interent situation is hopefully much improved.

Ok guys n gals, the winners of the prizes in the tipping competition:

1st Prize went to The General on 129 tips.
2nd Prize went to Kiwitig on 123
3rd prize (on points) went to Hayfever 118. Atomic came a close 4th, also on 118 tips, but with an inferior margin. Bad lucky atomic.

The prizes were $150 for first, $100 for second and $50 for third.

There were a couple of entrants who elected not to join in for the prizes, who did well also. Congrats to everyone who entered.

I'm donating my prize money to PRE, as the purpose of running this was to generate some income for the running costs, so I'll consider that mission accomplished.
