Putt and Gourdis

Finally we have a thug that hopefully can play footy.

Agree - one that has some size to him as well (c.f. Jake King)....should scare the *smile* out of the opposition with time. :boxing

This from a Hawk supporter on BF:

David Gourdis - This guy I think is rookie drafted high by Richmond. He played in the maggos, and at one stage he wrestled little Adrian Papaluca to the ground on the outside wing behind play. Now at the magoos there is nobody around and the ball on the opposite side of the ground. He started punching the crap out of all 160cm of little Pap, in front of about 10 of us BH fans with no umps or nobody around, and it went for two minutes, sitting on top of him hammering Pap. We were all so close to getting over the fence!! Big man picking on a little guy half his size. Shows what you can get away with in the early games when nobody is around. Thug!

I'd take this comment with a grain of salt. He probably had a wrestle with Papadopoulous and the rest is blown out of proportion for artistic purposes. I really can't imagine a guy belting another player for 2 minutes without an umpire noticing.

Or atleast other players noticing.

Well the Dawk supporter did say Papa was small, so given the camber of the ground, it probably just looked like Gourdmeister was repeatedly hitting the ground with discontent.....

Might have thought it was Petts remonstrating with himself ;)

Typical that ten of them were brave enough to think of jumping the fence to beat up on one bloke.

The ten of them were actually Pap's extended family... sadly, all vertically challenged and not tall enough to scale the fence to lend a hand.

In: Gourdis, go the knuckle son!

Haven't seen much of Dave Gourdis to be honest but from what I saw of Putt while he was at Calder I'm amazed he lasted till our third pick. He's a super prospect. Has the hight, marking strength, nice speed and agility. Really looking forward to seeing him put it together in the next couple of years.

These guys have enormous potential, imo, probably more talent than anyone on our list. With the FF and CHF holes at Coburg seniors, why arent these guys given a shot to see what they can do, and play in those positions respectively?

not more talent than the COTCH, not more than richo, not more than browny................more than Tiver or danny meyer is a fair enough comment but not the whole list.

and as for the 2nd part, idk why they arent playin seniors, but it maybe has a bit to do with the development program they r on for the long term rather than the immediate future which im quite happy to go along wit if thats the case.

The reason i said they probably are the most talented on the list is because its not often you find a KPP player that is 195cm tall, can run like the wind, take a grab and kick it 65m. And its certainly not often you see a 203cm ruckmen who can play FF and run like a midfielder.

Great - but can they get it and can they dispose of it to a teammate?

They both will be great players for the footy club. Both have the potential and are progressing well in the VFL. Putt will get there just like Gus has been developing over a couple of years.
