Willy had a lot of mature players that just looked bigger and stronger than our mostly younger guys, some of whom did not want the hard contests. They looked like brickies labourers and they played good footy without needing to run too fast which suited them at this level. Our fellas were either brushed aside or tackled so well they couldn't get free leading to a loss of confidence, so well played Willy and good coaching Andy. Lot of new players tonight, so we lacked key players that had helped the team win a lot of matches earlier in the year. Too many were poor in second half. Marcon wanted to prove that he should have been kept at Tigerland and he gave Miles a lesson. That *smile* played the way our mids should have played.
The lighting conditions were quite poor for a match of this importance...who forgot the auto-shutoff was scheduled for 9pm? All players seemed to have trouble judging the flight of the ball often running under it and many seemed to take a bit longer to gather the loose ball making tackling easier. I hope they have all day games in future or at Etihad where GF is played.

Wouldn't be to concerned, we all know players like Menadue, soldo, Stengel, and miles have run there race in the AFL.
The kids like Balta, Naish, baker and Bulter will be around the next few years.
The VFL is funny, we basically use it as spare parts for running repairs to the senior team. We only have 10 -12 AFL players in the team anyway. Where clubs like Williamstown, Werribee and port have a team week in week out made to play in the competition. They don't lose players to another team and don't rest players either.
Yes, worth keeping in mind when comparing those three clubs to all AFL aligned teams.

Still, other than Williamstown, all the standalone teams are struggling to compete against the AFL affiliated ones. Willi were very impressive with their pressure. They had almost 100 tackles to our 60s.

Lighting was fine, no excuse for that and Tigers train under them. Thought it was great to have a night final.

Holding the ball just wasn't paid. The players worked it out and made no attempt to get rid of it when tackled. It's 50% of the perceived problem with the game.

Exactly.
Umpires need to pay the first few, then the games opens up.

For the third time this year. They overpower our small midfield.

And that is the underlying weakness in the list. We don't have a young crop of pure mids pushing through.

Set for bigs, set for ruck but still very shallow for mids. Need to sign a veteran who can play 15 games if required but is a super VFL player and draft three or four kids.

Agree except for the Rucks, we have one ruck who is great around the ground but gets beaten in the hit outs , we then have a promising junior who is 3 years away probably and I have no doubt the Adelaide sides will be in his ear very soon. Then we have Soldo, we need another Ruck

Around the grounds....

Laughable watching Figgy's Photocopiers getting licked up the arse by the dumpires. Hope the Bummers win.
