R19 - Port Adelaide v Richmond

Thought we had a real dip for 3/4 but of course ran out of steam in last quarter. It is the lot of a poor team; competitive for a time against average teams. We are definitely a poor team right now and Port is certainly an average team.

That said we had some nice passages of play with good connection through the corridor. If we had a couple of decent key forwards it may have even been a different result. It will be a rare occasion that you win a game with players the calibre of Samson and Kosi as key forwards.

Who is the clown that changed our clash strip to have the sash on the back with the white numbers? It is putrid. Can not see a number on the jumper unless it is a close up camera shot.

Just go back to the previous clash strip. You know; the jumper we won a flag in for the first time in 37 years.

It’s not that *smile* hard.

3 years! We signed Samson for 3 years. On the back of what???

I had a good time watching until the last quarter, when I basically disconnected emotionally from the game. But this guy, I just can't understand. Kosi I get. We got what we got. But Sampson?

Mutter mutter mutter. Expletives. Mutter.

I can't believe Dow had 16 possessions.
I can. That's about his average. How many of them hurt though? 160 m gained...1 goal assist, couple score involvements.

19 centre bounce attendances.
0 clearances.

Must be an absolute blocking machine for his team mates.

I saw some really good signs tonight. Took the game on and troubled them with our foot speed.

We lost our way when Nank went off and we desperately need key forwards.
I was at the game tonight. To the whiners calling for Yze's head and saying "no fight" you seriously have no idea. Boys cracked in all night, as all teams playing a heap of youngsters will the boys ran out of steam. Losing Nank compounded the issue, plus a few very bizarre soft decisions to the Pear did not help. Daniel Rioli was unreal, we cannot let this man leave. There will be tough times ahead but I implore you to support the boys. All of this BS about "giving up" is absolute rubbish. Playing away against a solid team with an undermanned team (don't underestimate the loss of Taranto and Vlastuin) was always going to be tough. The boys did OK.

Miller was 5 metres behind Georgiadis all night.
He isn't the answer.
Every week just back the forward to have a day on him.
Well it’s no use playing in front when forwards are allowed to simply shive you in the back… unless of course you’re Tom Lynch… and there’s a different interpretation

We look so much better playing with pace on the footy and using the corridor. Shame we havent see it more.

I agree. Thought we showed alot of promise for 3 quarters with 11 having played less than 50 games. We were smashed in clearances 31-47, contested marks 6-16 & like every week spread & run 5582 metres gained compared to 6682.
The stats were interesting. Up to 3 quarter time the clearance differential was almost totally due to centre clearances, we were just a few down around the ground. We got smashed in both in the last quarter. Same with inside 50s and contested possessions, it wasn't until later in the 3rd quarter the differential grew. All the indicators starting going south as our pressure dropped off a bit.

The key stat that tells the story of the game however is scores from set shots and as a subset of that marks inside 50. 18 marks to 6 inside 50 and scores from set shots 12-8 to 4-0. We desperately need key forwards

Thought we had a fair go at it. Probably the most positive game all year in terms of ball movement and having a lot of young players involved in that movement.

Ken worked out our zone.
Just chip through it
Nothing to work out there. Every club has been doing that to us all season long. Chip, switch n run. Been opening us up like a cold stubby on a hot afternoon.

It's hard to use the corridor. Everyone wants to use it and everyone wants to deny it to their opponents. You need to be brave and precise.

Our ball movement was excellent for much of the night.

I have defended Samson Ryan for a few years now but I have now seen the light.
How the heck did he get a three-year deal? 3 disposals, 1 mark and 9 hit outs is a very bad day at the office.
He wasn't demanding getting a 3-year deal. A one-year deal would've been suffice.

To me it wasn't the stats, it was how easily he was just thrown away by Sweet, seemed like a 16 year old wrestling a 30 year old.

Yeh, didn't see the game live, watched the replay and as usual it's the frees we are not awarded that kill us. Baker gets hit high (how many times can they smash this guy high and not get penalised!??) and numerous push outs not rewarded. All of these resulted in Port goals. 9 Frees for the match? We must be on track for the lowest amount of awarded frees in history in a year?

We change coach, players, game style and yet nothing changes as far as umpiring. *smile* off you midget twerps.
