R6 V Hawks Game Day Thread

Gee, I thought he had heaps of it, but wasted it a lot.

He was nowhere in my opinion. He gives the ball off to sill positions, and the only time he got in the open he got corralled into terrible positions. Just did not see him having an influence like Rioli or Osborne.

Can’t argue with that call…

No no no no! Losing is not good enough! For real tigers last night should hurt like hell – not be something we simply sigh about and accept!

mmmmm - what a load of rubbish. You are obviously not a Tiger fan - or you would not talk such dribble. Tambling played a good game yesterday and for some parts, ripped the Hawks a new one. Maybe time for you to visit the eye doctor as you obviously need some help seeing - or is that seeing restricted to what you wanted to Oh, and by the way - Rioli was good at goals but didnt do much around the ground so how can you compare? Selective analysis if you ask me. Not a Dawks fan are we?

No! Just unlike so many other people here I am not happy with the continuing string of losses and middle of the road performances!

How do you think successful clubs like Essendon or West Coast would have reacted to last nights loss? They would have been devestated. On this site people seem to be smiling and thinking "how good was last night? We only lost by 12 points, and had 18 less scoring shots and 13 less inside 50s. That is great!"

Well it is not great, it was weak, and everyone that accepts it is letting our 'once great' club down. It is an attitude like that that continues to let us down...

Roughead only starting to come good??....................He kicked 40+ goals last season.

Yes second half of last year and this year. Roughhead had 8 goals in his first 10 games last year, he really started finding consistency in that second half. This year he's averaged 3 goals a game and is really coming on. Mate I've been singing Roughhead's praises since early on when many were calling him a dud. The point of the conversation is that Roughhead didnt just come on the ground and control the forward line as our friend Tigerforce is suggesting Reiwoldt should do, especially not in after just 11 games of footy. Roughhead played 16 games in his first year and managed 6 goals.

If your club is so great why are you forced to play a chunk of your games in Tassie for a big fat cheque?

we are disappointed that we lost but would anyone have given us even 10 goals in on the Hawks before the game? No they wouldn't - we were expected to get thrashed by them. 12 points is not a thrashing and the boys did fight hard for that. Is a loss good enough - no it isn't but give them a break - they are doing a lot better than most expected and they have given us some hope. Stop being so meladramatic and put it into perspective. We won the wooden spoon last year and no one expected this list to do much - well they are doing ok and getting closer than we have been in a long time. You cant expect miracles from a team that did so bad last year.

We can only take it one week at a time and do the best we can - and they are doing that. We drew with an undefeated team and came close to the possible grand final team - that is a good step in the right direction in anyones language for sure. No one says losing is ok. Go over to Bigfooty and see what the opposition supporters are saying about our efforts - the team are winning respect for their efforts from opposition supporters - the least you could do is the same for your own team!

Thanks for not pretending to be one of "us" at least in this post. While we are not doing as well as your team is, and we naturally would prefer the win, the reason we are happy is we are making progress to looking like the team we have been hearing talk about for years now. This is just a little thing, but its the first time in some time we are making any of these steps.

I suggest you enjoy your premiership run, and leave us to focus on our rebuilding.

Jnr had 19 touches, 7 kicks, 7 marks, 4 tackles, 2 goals, set up Buddy's only goal and spent some time in the middle. Tambling spent more time in the middle, racked up 18 touches with 6 kicks, 2 marks and one goal. Did some ok work but "ripped the Hawks a new one" hardly. Jnr also had 5 inside 50's, so he must have been up the ground a fair bit.

Can't see why you would want to compare them but they did play similar roles so it would be reasonable to do so. Rioli also has gone from school footy last year to AFL with half a pre-season. I'm not having a dig at Tambling but Jnr is looking like a very special footballer.

Its not much of a run and they'll get pantsed again when the finals roll around.

Of course I am unhappy to lose but we gave ourselves every chance of winning against a genuine contender for the flag.
Were starting to show we are genuinely competitive against top4 sides and that's most pleasing.
In the end things didn't go our way but the harsh reality is we aren't good enough to beat your mob yet.

The signs are good very good though IMO. Might be a different scenario next time these two teams meet.

Rioli looks to be a great pickup BTW.

You missed one Oldie, your boy Jay - loved his competing on the ground and the way he threw himself about - then went forward and snagged an important goal. Should have had about a zillion in the backs paid to him as he continuously got the hard ball in the packs and got sat upon- but umps just ignored the big fella. Becoming a valuable player.

Goes without saying doesn't it? ;D
He's added real steel to the backline and is hurting teams with his cameos up forward.
I wonder how many would be swapping him out for pick 28 ATM?

From an outsiders perspective I thought it was well fought out by the Tigers, in terms of intent. Richardson is a star, and you have to wonder how he would have gone playing most of his career on the wing, and perhaps you guys looking for another forward.

However, I thought the only thing stopping it being a blow out to an extent, was Hawthorn's poor kicking. Most games they would have nailed the early chances, and by the end of the game it was just ridiculous. Credit to the Tigers to keep on coming, and not lying down, but that was probably the most one side 10 point margin I have ever seen in a contest, in terms of who were attacking the most.

Good signs for the Tigers though, I didn't see much last year to be excited with, but there seems to be a little bit brewing down there, and they Tiger's remind me a little bit of Hawthorn 2006.

All due to tigers pressure on the man. Just goes to show how certain teams arent used to that sort of pressure ie cats vs dockers as well.

do we have any Tiger supporters on this site at the moment? It is hard to understand opposition supporters when all they are out to do it take us down a peg or two wherever possible. I liked Tamblings game yesterday quite a lot and really dont give a rats what opposition supporters think of him. Leave ours alone and nit pick your own. For Dork fans - have a look at how last years wooden spooners could place that much pressure on your team that you just won. Bad kicking is bad football and pressure does that to you. Maybe a little praise is in order for the way they fought it out and made the Dorks make errors. Yes they lost - they will learn a lot from that game and hopefully will not do so next time. ::)

yes realist, it does make you wonder what may have been if Richo was played on the wing throughout his career .... but boy - has he worried a few full backs just lining up on him in the forward line!! :hihi

bring back sneezy, love to hear his thoughts on Hodge's game last night

where did sneezy go? Busy in the mine, banished to never never land, or busy chasing snow white? :hihi

Man this site is full of Hawthorn supporters. Don't they have their own site. I'm all for alternative opinion but surely we should be supporting each other rather than abusing, afterall there are many successful interstate teams to hate.

Put him in the PRE missing file with such greats as Dean3.

i think you are being harsh on the ferals.
most agree we dont have the cattle at least i think most agree.

imo we are a bottom 4 list in the recent past we have been an absolute rabble. at long last our team is playing with a bit of pride endevour and courage. we have a few kids stepping up to the plate we are at a stage in development where wins are not to important as long as our kids show improvement and the team plays with intensity and has a red hot go.

when we think we have a finals list with kids who have had enough development losing will become unacceptable. the plain old facts are we are still a fair way of.
last yr we would have lost this game by 100points instead we got a team who had a real go never gave up even though they were clearly an inferior side. imo we could easilyhave lost this game by 8 or 10 goals thats the gap between the sides but we hung in their and made a real nuicance of ourselves.
