Raines told to sit out season

Happy with that, good decision, theres a spot in the team for Rainsy imo. Has had a poor couple of years but I feel we havnt seen the best of him.
Agree,he can play & I'm sure the club knows that.

I think the calls to trade/delist are a bit premature. Has showed at a young age (22?) that he has some potential. Hard at it, fast, a strong body and plays for the team. Was very close to BOG in the only full game he played this year. It wasn't that long ago that people on here were crying out for Tuck to be dropped never to return yet he will finish top 5 in our Best and Fairest.

Hopefully a big preseason for Andrew and comes out and proves a few people wrong in 2009

Raines is in direct competition with Newman, Tambling, McMahon, Connors, Polo, White, Collins, King, Hyde, Meyer, Casserly, & Howat.

He probably sits closer to the front of that swarm of mid/small sized players than he does the rear but as you can see he is far from expendible.

His Dad is a Tiger legend but his son certainly isn't & he should definately be on the table at years end to see what interest there is.

Hasn't played this year much so the interest wouldn't be high.Stick with him.

I think even before he got injured he'd been found out a bit and all the opposition knew he was just gonna tuck it under his arm, have a couple of bounces then do a hospital pass to some poor soul further up the field.
As much as Hypoxic obviously disagrees I say trade him.

He got injured because of a poor decision. Held onto the ball for far too long and then kicked a hospital ball as he was cleaned up. Not a fan of Raines unfortunately. Would there be much trade value though?

Geez Goody, if every player became expendible on that basis, we'd be watching netball instead ;)

Pretty sure clubs have to put up 2 players for the GC franchise.

absolute crap. where did you hear that rubbish?

i've hard the new gold coast team will be given 20 out of the first 24 picks in the 2010 ND, but the catch is that they must trade a minimum of 10 of those picks to clubs for players. Expect something similar for west sydney in the 2011 ND.

Is this fact.......are there any concessions that have been set down yet? I thought the details on this sort of thing were still up in the air?

When the franchise was announced, however that was just one of the proposals at the time.Weather it,s written in stone im not sure.[hence the pretty sure remark]

They dont have to trade away any of their picks. But what it does do is give them the chance to get some decent mature players to the club instead of castoffs like the Brisbane Bears had to put up with.
