Ithought Raines was rather disappointing after last year's promise. I don't know if there are any stats on players who got caught with the ball alot but from what I saw it was quite frustrating the number of times he did get caught. His foot skills are maybe affected by putting himself under unnecessary pressure. Now saying that I don't think Raines is the new whipping boy. He is still young and has time on his side. There are plenty of his types of players around though, so he does have to excel to make it.

Not a good season to judge Raines. If Locket was still playing, Raines would have got the gig this year. He had a lot of assignments he just should not have had imho.
Same point I've been making Bill. I think this season turned him from boy into man. Even when he copped a hiding he never spat the dummy or dropped his head.Bill James said:

Go back two seasons. People questioned if he had what it takes. Last year he almost won Risng Star. This year was character-building. Next year he will blossom. Definitely one of our core players for future.
