The last thread I began on our 5 most valuable players in 2006 provided me with some fascinating reading.
Then, I keenly noticed TW's reference this week that we should be looking for overall ladder improvement from our mid-rung players, and not from the youngsters or the veterans.
It got me thinking about these mid-rung players, who they are and how valuable they are ... or could be.
And so, here's my next quizzical task. Place these players in order from most to least valuable for the Tigers in Season 2006 - Krakouer, Hyde, Hall, Chaffey, Tivendale and Rodan.
For what it's worth, I'll stick the old neck out first ...
1. Rodan - I'm not completely sold, but I think this could be a breakthrough year for him. Alas, I remember making the some bold prediction about Fiora once too.
2. Hall - if he's able to cement a spot, he must just be the versatile big man of quality we're lloking for.
3. Hyde - worry to see where the improvement in the balance between lots of possessions and few quality ones will come from.
4. Krakouer - important year for him. Would love to see him do well - but I'm worried. Still seems to make far too few contests.
5. Chaffey - run with players need to be very fit and Chaff has had an awfully disrupted preseason.
6. Tivendale- I'm concerned. Turnover king. Many young guys coming through who could fill this role adequately.
Hopefully all of these guys can turn in stellar seasons and we get the climb up the ladder TW, and the rest of us, would love.
