Rd 1 team vs Geelong (Live on ABC TV)

Looks like it could be a long season for JON. Not sure what else can be done to help him. For someone with pace, he's slow running, slow in decision making a poor kick and makes mistakes : /

To be fair, only basing it on what ive seen today.

The point is these blokes have proven they're not up to it. Time to move them on and give others, like Morton, a go.

Don't ignore that Polo was selected this week in preference to Tivendale Ridders. Terry is Gasparing Tivvers IMO.

TBH I am more interested in the team winning tomorrow than just playing guys for the sake of it if they don't deserve a game or aren't ready.
A few aside the team we are playing tomorrow is young as it is.
Things are progressing and I am sure when the likes of Morton Riewoldt Connors Edwards etc are ready to go they too will get there chance.
Morton who's now show some form will likely get a promotion next week unless we win well tomorrow and all play well.

No surprises there. Good to see the others going well though. Pretty impressive to hammer the reigning premiers like this. Obviously both sides are different from the 2007 GF but I'd imagine many Geelong players are the same?

Nope they said at the start only 6 players played in the premiership side.

I am also more interested in winning but more often than not we don't, which is mostly due to our insistence over many years in playing bloke who are not up to it, and continuing to play them. Take the point about Polo v Tiv but am yet to be convinced that Wallace is totally committed to rebuilding the list through the development of young players.

Is that right? Geez that's not many; where have the rest of them gone?

Riewoldt with 5 goals looking good. Loving the numbers on some players; 77 Morton, 83 Tiv :hihi :hihi

Makes you wonder why they recruited him. You don't give up pick 35 and play the bloke in the magoos. Especially behind proven failures such as Hyde. Wallace's insistence of playing proven failures ahead of kids will ultimately prove his undoing. He just doesn't get it.

You seem a little more enlightened on this thread than the other Old Tiger?

And if they all play well tomorrow, lesser lights at Richmond will hold their places at the expense of the development of players who might really make a difference.

Fair enough. He does seem like a bit each way.
Anyone who's seen me post knows I am not Terry's biggest fan. ;)

Great to see many of the kids doing well at Coburg though isn't it? That does bode well for the future. 8)

i liked seeign JON in the forward line, i think if he's gonna make it, itll be as a forward.

gonna be interesting to see who goes up to richmond next round

As I said the team is getting younger and we are seeing a heap of fresh faces in the seniors already this year.
If Chris Hyde's promotion is the most we have got to worry about then things must be on the way up.
Hall, Gaspar, Kingsley, Krakouer, Tivendale etc.. are nowhere to be seen thank goodness.

Yep they've been good from what I've seen. Jack's just kicked his 6th.

Big difference between VFL and AFL but we'll never know how good they are unless Wallace let's them loose.

If they keep up the good form and the seniors go pear shaped, I doubt it will be long before some of those names are introduced but as I have said the competition for places is healthy.

Personally with virtually a full list, I want to see us play the best team we can in the seniors particularly early in the season to see how we go.

If your perennial whipping boys in Schulz, Hyde, Moore etc. fall over they'll be replaced soon enough I am sure but hopefully for Richmond's sake they don't and they can play in many wins this year.

*Jack will likely be putting pressure on Hughes by the sounds next week. Cleve would want to have a good game tomorrow.

Final score 178-103. Great win. Morton 7 goals, Jack 6 goals.

Not that it should, but lets hope their efforts today put some pressure on everyone to play to their best tomorrow, otherwise............

Tames uve stated JON "slow running" he has been anything but slow today actually taken guys on and using his pace to accelarate away.
Mate ive given JON expecially last year a bit of criticism about his kicking and decesion making but he wasnt that bad today.
In the last Q there were 4 possessions in a row that he had which hit the target from 30 to 40 mtrs out and i was happy to see that from the kid.
Like i said long way to go but id rather see him get 8 to 10 possies beat his man and not have constant turn overs like he did last year when at times he would rack up 12 to 15 possies and 10 would more than likely miss the target.

white and Morton will be first up for promotion next week.

White must have overcome his foot problem. Ran all day, got a number of clearences and his delivery into the forward line was very clean.

Tiva still turning it over.

Jack kicked 6 but setup at least another 3.

Certainly liked the look of Collins

Edwards appeared to have limited game time. Hey ToO maybe he is coming back from injury ;) (take note Claw and momentai)
