That's what I factored in plus Pies have a forward line simular to us with a few mid quick sized players , so I went for bit of extra run with Ellis
Ellis is not a defender's backside hence his "move" to the midfield this year. It will be Oleg who has been close to selection last year until injured and now is fit and firing as an attacking defender.

I see both Rioli and Butler as non-negotiable smalls for our forward line this year. It's tempting to include George in that given we don't seem to have any superstar kids banging on the door. Pressure isn't something the opposition can "figure out".

These type of players firing should do more to cover the loss of Rance than whoever is added to the backline IMO.

Good post. With Rance out we need to further limit easy ball out of our f50. If fit I reckon George comes in for Rance.

Who said I wanted Ellis in the back line ?

There is not a need for another tall with the Pies forwards , Astbury Grimes & Broad as tall's are enough this week. Ellis was to go into the midfield rotations

Once the round1 team is named it’s usually the main team all year with a few guys tried for experience, a few in and out on form and a few injuries.

But the onus is on the vfl player to force their way up.

I don’t know how the vfl team went. But I know they won.

40 touches is hard to over look

Starting to think that Balta will head down back.

But is George fit enough to come straight back in?

Caesar says he trained forward today. So seems unlikely. I'd say he continues to be backup ruck for the moment.

I think it will be Bobble for Rance, thats it.

He's want to handle the pressure better than he did in JLT 1. Was abysmal that day in a park run. The temperature will be amplified on Thursday night.

This is the game where Big Mav has to shine. Most players have to wake up, concentrate and stop lazing about otherwise we'll lose again to the Chokers.

Humidity and heat have pissed off so it'll be all dry and no excuses for fumbles.

true. To be fair you could probably level the same charges against Markov as well. I think long term Markov might prevail but right now Beavis will go with Bobble.

Bobble did the right thing and got big possessions in the magoos. He can play wing and Kamdyn to half back.

I think Ellis will come in and play on a wing. McIntosh on the other wing. Balta will move to half back and take the ruck duties when in defense. Throughout the year it'll be a team effort to cover Rance. Grimes on De Goey, Astbury on big Mason, Vloss on Thomas, Short on there second year speedster and tits on Elliott.

If there's one stat that always over rates a players game it is Possessions.

So Ellis had 40. WOW. I bet most of them were Bowdenesqe.

Dusty does more with half the amount!

POSSESSIONS... pfttt

I don’t think possessions only will get him back in ,

Didn’t work for miles ,

Im guessing there will be work ons he had to correct , such as not shirking a contest for possession , just a hunch ,

Which is why he was thrown into the middle

Houli confirmed out. I'd go:

In: Ellis, Markov
Out: Rance, Houli

Not ideal

Agree. If we were looking at Balta to go back, I would bring in Moore to play the utility forward/ruck role. But don't think we need to go down that path against Collingwood who don't have a lot of tall forwards.
