???When was the last time the previous years bottom two finishers met in the first game the following year?How did the winning team fare for the rest of the year?How large was the the crowd(for the statistically minded)?

Hawthorn (15th, 7 wins)
Fitzroy (16th, 2 wins)

Hawthorn won by 21 points in front of 10,239 at Whitten Oval.

Hawthorn finished 8th with 11 wins and a draw.
Fitzroy finished 16th with 1 win and, um....
 
I will be happy if the team manages 8 th with 8 wins and a draw.Thanks for the info.
