Reality check

REALITY CHECK ALERT

Average age of the young up & coming Tigers top 22 players (by disposals) in 2006 24.9 y.o.

Average age of the top of the ladder Eagles who toyed with us in the final round in 2006 24.3 y.o.

If thats not a reality check of where this club really is at there nothing will convince some people.  It will take at least another 5 years to turn this ship around.

CONTEXT CHECK ALERT!

this needs to be put into context of the rest of the comp. what are the figures for the rest of the teams?

WLF showed a list of the average age for each team and yes, at 23y 161d we were equal in average age to west coast, but both clubs were equal YOUNGEST of the comp. so i think we're on the right track, it's just that west coast are freaks.

They may well be freaks, but last time I looked they played in the same competition as we did and have finished top of the ladder in the past two home and away seasons.

I think that shows that West Coast are indeed freaky. Last night West Coast demolished the Bulldogs . Some would argue they have the 3 best midfielders in the league. West Coast are going to be very strong for quite a while because they have nurtured their young and have got many games into them, as well as maintained some experienced finals campaigners. The reality check is how are the other teams progressing. Last year Swans won the premiership, a comparison against them would be appropriate.

A Victorian-based premiership contender will have to be a great team, as there are alot of inequalities transpiring against them. How long before the Tigers have the nucleus of a potential great team?

i take your point, but that means all 15 other teams should have a reality check. you're not saying that we should aim for the premiership by having the youngest team in the comp. i still would like to see those stats for the entire comp.
