What a beautiful torpedo from Chris Newman kicking in that resulted in a running goal to Daniel Connors in that 2nd quarter!

'Chris Newman's long torp, picked up by Daniel Jackson, handballed to Matty White, kicked to Richard Tambling, marked, played on and handballed to Daniel Connors who slotted the goal!'

One of the best plays of the day IMO.

10.4 seconds from Newmans kick to Connor's goal. Very nice.

We were once the best team in the comp for scoring goals from our kickouts. Is that still the case ?

Chris Newman kicked a torpedo to the exact spot at the end of the pre game warm up and I thought "Why don't you do that during the game, Chris"? When I saw him about to take the kick out and there was a wall of hawks just outside the 50m line, I was daring him to kick another big torp over their heads, then he put boot to ball and several Richmond players were waiting for it at the same spot the ball landed in the warm up. The next time a kick in was required, Newman took the ball and the the Hawthorn dunderheads didn't know where in the hell to go. Methinks it was all planned and well rehersed. Brilliant tactics but obviously one that can only be used once or twice a game to keep the element of suprise.

Connors is going to be a gun player for the Tigers. Love the way he moves.

Welcome aboard, Binga! By the way are you the cricketer or the greyhound? :hihi

Yes Newie has a hoof on him. I reckon he should do it more often. He does turn it over a bit by foot on the shorter passes. I don't reckon the other sides would be too awake to it. Obviously you don't do it for every kick in.
Did seem to catch the Dawks completely off guard! ;D

So is Shane Edwards. As soon as he went into the midfield in the last qtr with fresh legs he gave us something. A great mover with a great footy brain. Just needs to add some bulk to his frame over summer. He's gonna be special this kid in a few years.

And the Chris Newman kick in was because of a Buddy miss kick if I remember rightly. It was a great piece of play.

Yes im sure it was, I remember after that goal was kicked I shouted out something like "thanks buddy for setting up the goal!" ;D

Newman should do it 2-3 times a game imo.

I remember Robbie Tatts McGhie letting the torps go years ago to the middle of the ground.....it really breaks up the play....great stuff :clap

Goal was great too!

Of course those of us watching on Fox didn't get to see it due to some "excellent" broadcasting. They showed a replay of the Franklin point and when they came back to the live broadcast all we saw was Jackson getting the ball!
