I'm continually suprised when people say so and so should do such and such or grow to a certain height or be a good mark because his cousin or brother is.

Can anyone be bothered giving some examples of cousins/brothers, fathers who've played at the top level and whether they are similar players or not.

The reason I wonder about this comments about Jack developing to be like Nick because they're related. The cousins in our family, and even the brothers, come in all shapes and sizes and rarely share similar looks or personalities or abilities.

Tucky isn't much like Gary Ablett imo. Rainesy is like his dad though.

Francis Bourke and David Bourke different.

I can't think of too many cousins as examples.

A new one is Heath Black and Dean Kelly (assuming he gets drafted). They are like chalk and cheese. But they are only half brothers.

Just to name a few....
Different....Ablett Family, Bull and Matt Richardson, Peter and Andrej Everett, Joel and Pat Bowden
Similar...Wakelin Brothers, Raines

There could not be two more different builds than father Alan (Bull) and Matthew Richardson. Bull was aptly named, and can still see him running in at full tilt when the centre bounce went down, splitting the pack wide open. Richo is completely different in build.

Fitzroy's Geoff & Jack Moriarty.

Geoff played 106 matches without scoring a goal; his son Jack played 170 games for 662 goals and was Fitzroy's all-time leading goalkicker.

Maybe it's the friday night scotch talking, but I couldn't care less who you look like or if you are related to them. Just be good!

i am yet to see 2 footballers play a similar style of footy to each other. comparing players is a difficult thing to do

You cannot seriously say that Geoff and Andrew Raines aren't similar.

they have a similar look about them and similar kicking styles(different feet) but they are different types. andrew is much tougher and much more accountable defender than pretty boy could have dreamed of. and geoff moved a little better

Yet to be proven, Geoff could look after himself pretty well.

what i meant is that andrew will go in and get the hard ball

Matt Little from the Hawks is going to struggle to be a shadow of James Hird.
Shame though. I liked it when he was kicking bags in the TAC.
At least there's one Matt Little who isnt a football tragedy.
