Replacing Graham

Sam Hunt is younger & has time to develop further. Has been going well for Bendigo without getting a game from Sheeds. Could be more of a personality issue with Sheeds perhaps. His disposal seems better than Bolton's as well. Could be a bargain priced smokey.

Interesting Red,

One type of player that does get recycled with a fair degree of success is that of the Key Position defender.

Mal Michael, Wakelyn(pies), McPhee, Bishop, Penny, Bolton are a few names of the top of my head that have produced good solid football or better at there new homes.

These players were traded for not too much or taken in the Pre-season draft if my memory serves me correctly.

what about a youngster in the VFL that shows promise like  Jackson Barling ?
SMP, you've been riding on the Phanto train, methinks. He's a decent rap for this kid. Would think a rookie opportunity would be the only way to go.

Does make you wonder how common it is for lads who miss one draft to be picked up in the next. I'm sure they can re-nominate. Any examples (particularly successful ones)?

Where does this leave young Archie?,Sam Hunt and Archie remind me of one and other. Can Archie fill any key positions???

Once a player has nominated the application remains valid for 3 years and they only need to re-nominate if their conditions have changed..

John Baird - Kangaroos - 25 yo, 192cm, 95kg. Good size and age for a KPP. Only 4 games in 2005 (not sure if due to injury or structure). Probably second in line after Shannon Watt at the Roos.

Would suspect he would come very cheap.

Considering EVERY North fan i know thinks Shannon Watt is the biggest dud they have ever had at the club (and yes I mentioned Jason McCartney) that is not a good indication of John Bairds ability.

Sarge to play CHB next year. Graham did a couple of good jobs but wasn't a key member of our backline fo the year.  I would like to see the following back six cement themselves as one of the premier backlines in the AFL next year:

Newman      Gas         Thursfiled

Bowden        Sarge       kellaway

obviously there are other players in the mix that would fill in depending on match ups and so on.

Yep thats about right :clap

With Wallace having a 5 year deal can't se him getting to many 2nd hand players will rely on the draft & Shulz, Thursfield & possibly Moore will be groomed as the tall backmen. We have not had much success with 2nd hand picks over the years have we apart from Brown.

Then they wouldn't mind swapping him for Tivendale...they aint seen nothin' yet.

agree with all of above. will be interesting to see Kellaway's role next year (would be good as loose man). i see hartigan filling a more permanent role in the backline also.

My initial question would be that this line up probably lacks run of Half back and probably pace overall to run and break the lines and deliver.

I think there has been amople evidence that your selections are fine with the exception of Newman. The guy can't stop goalkickers. Needs to be moved up the ground inot a rotating midfield position and a stopper placed in there with excellent closing speed for the small forward.
