I know there are some horrible posts and threads after yesterday's debacle, but I would dearly love to hear from any Tiger members who were there last evening. That is, an unbiased critical but fair assessment. Are we really as bad as the Sun reported today. They described us as a shambles. Is that true? It was hard to find a report after thumbing through Judd and Carlton, ad nauseum, page after page.

I was there for the second half and it was really difficult to find any positives. Geelong took the foot off the pedal but they still looked bigger, fitter, faster and much more skilled.

We ran around in circles, our disposal was awful and it didnt seem like we had any idea what we were doing. It looked like we were a bush side coming up against the pros.

Positives would be King, Newman and Foley. Also good that Simmonds and Cogs had a run.

The rest is all negative and i don't want to dwell on it.

Thanks Guys. Looks like we are still without a proper game plan. Once again, according to the Sun we fielded a strong team. If that is so, what is our problem???? Anyone else there at the game, that can throw some light on what seems to be a dark performance.

Geelong were very good and we werent. top v bottom.

We don't have any confidence. The idea of us having a game plan seems ridiculous.

One positiive other than no injuries we can take out of this pre-season is the form of Tambling I think.

He has been in the best 3/4 games, I don't think he would have done that in any of his other previous pre-seasons. Hopefully he takes this form into the real stuff.

Saw the whole painful game.

POSITIVES:
Tambling went OK. Has found his heart. Real good news this one.
Axel, the Plumber & Newy had a real crack, but turnovers let them and everyone else down.
Cogs got thru injury free.
Simmo and Brownie will be better for the run. I get the feeling Brownie doesn't rate praccy matches.
The Tiges had a chance in a match that didn't count for points to see how far off the pace we are and what we have to aim for.
The coach sat in the eastern stand looking into the sun. Saved $'s on his next solarium visit.
The Ground announcer didn't play the Benny Hill music when we had the ball in our back line. Woulda been apt.

what about instead of the "ROAR" meter we can have the Benny Hill theme blaring out at the "G" whenever we have the pill. BWARHAHA!!!

I'd certainly see the funny side of it :hihi

ya gotta laugh :hihi

i was there breifly the positves were;

Symmonds in the first half jumped all over blake and a younger inexpereinced cats ruck. Moved much better than the saints match. This is one spot against the blues where we might have some advantage.

Jake king was good. Tambling had ling on him for most of the match and did pretty well (deledio had one possession in a half against ling last year). Foley was pretty good.

Thurstfiled was not bad, as was newman. Not to much else to get excited about. Kelvin Moore was poor in the first half but much better after half time.

It was interesting to watch cleve hughes, he did a major clanger in the backline, but he actually looked very upset about it, it was nice to see him show some emotion.

Jackson also showed some heart in a push and shove with scarlett

lots of players down. Would love to see conners polo and edwards back from injury and playing in the senoirs i rate those guys.

Is it that Terry has a game plan????? and the players can't execute it???? Can anyone on here please explain what our game plan is, with some kmowledge please, not just conjecture.

the problem is that Benny Hill music is not comical enough to provide an apt description of our skills

Thanks Polo. i agree with you Edwards, Connors and polo are exciting and should all be fast tracked. I'd like to see jack in there too!

This QUOTE is getting much recognition ................ perhaps we could have a "fast shuttle forward" button to match the vision with the sound ................ :banana

i watched the second and third quarters.

the only positives i saw were a few individual players, nothing spectacular but just some good signs from a few maligned players like hughes, tambling and kel moore.
hughes looked good to me,took a few strong, one grab marks in front of me and kicked the ball with precision to one of his teammates about 30 metres away.
looked pretty confident just being out there and continually chased his opponent out of our forward line and at least once i saw he ended up chasing him all the way down to geelong`s forward line and gained a possession but kicked it across goal and it was intercepted by a geelong player who then kicked a goal.
but at least he chased his opponent down there.
great signs from what i saw,i`m pretty excited about hughes.

tambling tried his guts out and was in everything in the middle, looked lightning quick but still needs to back his pace more to take players on.
chased down opponents continually.

jake king tried his guts out,but that`s nothing new.

kelvin moore looked good at times, smart and skilful.

simmonds murdered blake in the ruck, too big and strong for him.
cogs looked ok,still underdone but showed his old toughness at the contest.

now for the negatives.
if we did have a game plan geelong didn`t let us execute it at all, they were far bigger and stronger and just looked more organised than us.
we still made a lot of the same old skill errors and basic mistakes.
although it was windy which was a factor, not an excuse just something to take into account.
oh,and kardinia park is a shithole and i`m so glad we don`t have to go there again this year.long may that continue.

and i guess you couldn`t ask for a better final hitout than to play the reigning premiers on their own dung hill before the first round.

Too right. There is not much to be gained playing half assed Melbourne and Sydney teams except a false sense of reality.
