Hi All,

With the off season banter drawing to a close (BRING ON THE FOOTY) I thought I would start one more thread involving predictions for 2007.

With THREE nominations for the Rising Star in 2006 including Raines (the eventual runner-up), Polo and Foley, I was interested in everyone's predictions for who from the RFC will earn a nomination for the award in 2007.

Our eligible players (under 21 at @ Jan 1 2007 and played less than 10 games) for 2007 include:

Travis Casserly
Andrew Collins
Daniel Connors
Shane Edwards
Cleve Hughes

Luke McGuane
Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls
Carl Peterson
Jack Riewoldt
Will Thursfield

(Feel free to make any corrections/additions)

Personally, I think we could struggle to match the 3 nominations of 2006. However, there is some exciting talent in that list and given enough playing time the individuals that I have marked in bold (IMO) could bob up for a nomination this year.

The Record season preview guide is out (not sure how long it has been out for) picked mine up today...

So I can review who the rising star might be and get back to you....

Not really much in there we don't already know, but handy to have if players cross over teams at the end of the year.

Shane Edwards should score a nomination, from at least one of the 8 or so games he will play this year ;)

Travis Casserly
Shane Edwards
Cleve Hughes
Luke McGuane
Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls
Jack Riewoldt
Will Thursfield

All seven of 'em.

i'd like to think thirsty and hughes'd have a decent chance.

eye catching displays also tend to be rewarded with nominations. based on this i think JON will get a nomination

We may get players nominated but Gibbs has it in the bag unless he gets injured as he'll play 22 games cos the Blues suck so bad imo.

Casserly, Connors and Reiwoldt would be our best bets right now.

Also I think Shaun Higgins from the Bulldogs has got it in the bag. Also look out for the Hawks to get a few canditates in such as Ellis, Muston, Thorp, Dowler etc.

I think Hislop is a huge chance to take it out.
So do I actually.

Best I chose someone from our team, just for kicks.I'll go Casserly & Jon for nominations this year.Connors and Reiwoldt for next.
