Tambling to me looked a lot bigger than last year. He was well muscled, top to toe, and his arms had some real definition. There was clear change from last year.

That said, he will never be a David Rodan :)

This is interesting. Several people have said this. Why then do we have Red sardonically saying he is 68 kg dripping wet? Which is it people, is he bigger or not?

Sometimes perceptions are more powerful than reality itself! ;)

I think that TasFord was saying that quite sarcastically Djevvalenko. He was merely saying that he is still quite thin by AFL standards which I suggest would be true. Don't get hung up on it. It sounds like he has put some weight on, lets hope there's more to come this preseason.

Don't worry soundbox. Our friend is a little slow on the uptake.......

lets put it this way...he did the old 'gee it's hot I'd better change my shirt' trick right in front of a pack of teenage girls...

I'm pretty sure most fainted ;D
Yes he traded with JON because JON was running in the relay and didnt have the same colour shirt as his team mates

Red, you know I picked up on your sardonic wit from the very first. I knew you wern't having a sarcastic swipe at his work ethic! ;D Others, however, struggled:

68kg was me being sardonic. How obvious could it have been ?

74 kg...73 kg...77kg...whatever..... he is too light at the moment. That was my point.

On the 1st point....not obvious enough for me...apologies big fella!

On the 2nd.....i still think 75kg - 80kg is ok for the role of an outside mid with good skills who can run like the wind!

I'm not really hung up on Richard's weight. I saw him blitz the doggies mid-feild as a 16yo, weighing all of 68 kg (wringing wet). I know he can play and weight is not his major issue. Confidence is. As he plays more and get's used to the speed and physical demands of AFL he will improve exponentially. In terms of gifted players at the club I would rank him no. 3 after Deledio and Brown.

Expect his star to shine from 2006 onwards.

Richie is FACT heavier about the 78kg range Red had had that many liquid refreshments last time he was watching Richie he actually commented to me that "Bling looks bigger dont ya think" when he was actually looking at JON

Chevy....i'm not quite sure what to make of this.

Firstly, must clarify that my descritpion of Ritchie as an outside mid was not intended to be disparaging at all.....i'm well aware that he is quite capable at getting his own ball.  I just think that is the role he needs to player early in his career to ensure longevity in the game.  I also agree that he is probably 1 of the most naturally gifted footballers at the club.  If you are that way inclined do a search on Ritchie circa Oct 2004 and you will see exactly what i think of him!

In relation to my other comments.....i think the meaning has escaped you! I'm willing to accept that the basis for the inaccurate reporting if Ritchies weight was perhaps nothing more than the "sardonic wit" of a certain poster!  My concern was (and probably still is) around intent.........hence my claim that "sometimes perceptions are more powerful than reality itself".

Anyway, Ritchie has just started his journey and has a long way to go.

All I was saying was that you said you didn't pick up on redford's meaning either. ;D. Lots of communication problems on this thread!

As for an outside mid that is how many perceive him. Probably that is where he will be played for the next couple of years for the reason you said. But he does actually win a lot of ball out of packs. Not thru crash & bash but quick hands. He actually had a number of direct goal assists doing exactly this (now theres a stat we need to see in AFL). I agree he is still a few years away - probably - but he really doesn't need much weight to have a big impact.

I guess at the end of the day the weight issue will be a trade-off between protecting him and preserving his agility.

He is injured again. He didnt do any of the running at all. I asked him what was wrong and he said just a little niggly injury, in other words he didnt want to tell me. He also told me that the Tyson was going great and growing quikly and that he cant wait to get back up to the NT to see him again.
Yeah i am a little bit worried about Bling, i know its only early days but so far it does'nt look good with the injury situation

Given the Hawks overlooked Tambling I imagine you are crossing your fingers he doesn't come good.

Don't feed this troll - he is obviously a Hawk supporter who is very pleased with the picking up of Franklin (a tall Jeff Farmer).
