Thanks for the info RFCO. Considering PREnders have been long term donors to the FTF I find it disappointing that there wasn't an invitation for at least a couple of contributors to attend.

Can you please give a bit more info on what was said?

Do they ever train with the AFL list? If so, how often. Maybe a select few?

How often do they train as a VFL group? I assume it is after 5 pm?

Do they train with the other clubs they play with?

I also wonder the payment details - I suppose a base fee and amounts per game played?

I am just interested in how they integrate with the AFL list, if at all.

Thanks in advance for any info

For now they train on their own as a team after hours as they all work. That may change during the season.
They train 2-3 times a week at the moment after hours at Punt Road.
They are allowed to train with their other teams at the moment as well.
Payment not sure.

I believe we have a salary cap of $150,000 for our VFL list.

I think some of the VFL players like the captain and other regulars would be on a base or set wage and the ones that won`t play many games will be just get match payments if they play.

Season opener is against Footscray at Western Oval.

Now there is a blast from the past - remember seeing a very young Richo kick 8 there. Michael Gale's & Paul Brodericks first games for us. Lost as usual out there!

I was going to the VFL opening but for my broken ankle.
Another Tiger friend of mine also had a spare ticket for the Punt Road guided tour.
Spewing.

P.S. Now in a moonboot.
I asked the Doc ,if this was a football injury, how long would I be out?
He told me 12 months.

I will be limping for 6 months after that.
Might be sitting in the 3121 area next year instead of standing lol. ::)

P.P.S. I didn't want to fumigate Punt Road with the smell coming from my month old cast.
Smelt like the Collingwood Cheer squad Phew. ;D

Glad to get that bugger off.

2023 will be the 10th season for us stand alone in the VFL.

Albeit, no games were played in 2020 & only 10 in 2021

Taz would it be fair to say we are much younger than the 17-19 years?
In terms of AFL listed players eg Lloyd, Lennon, Miles
and also VFL.

From the outside it seems we've gone for young possibles in the VFL.

Comparing results with average age for each year would be interesting

no doubt about it & according to the club that was the strategy.

Not many experienced mature types like
Jacob Ballard
Tom Couch
Ryan Bathie
Adam Marcon
Sam Darley
Nick Mellington
Hugh Beasley
Blake Grewar

etc etc

Gives our kids the exposure and responsibility.
But big impact on the results

I spoke to Fly McCrae just after he got elevated to Richmond assistant coach , (which many saw as a promotion), but he said to me that he would have preferred to have coached the VFL side for a couple more seasons but he and the club had a different philosophy on compilation of the VFL side, Fly was why change what ain't broke and continue with experience and youth where club wanted to go pretty much all out youth.

Great bloke Fly, happy to see him successful in a main gig.

Interesting that Biggie has been named as first ruck for the vfl side.
This may be from necessity with Soldo out and Ryan playing in the senior team but using him in the ruck was something that was being trialed last year as well.
He has a great spring on him and it will be interesting to see how he goes
