Symonds hitting a few sixes and there's a guy in a tigers jumper in the crowd. The commentator says that tiger fan at long on is being kept busy retrieving the ball and I think it was Haysman who said "I didn't think Richmond had any supporters left", and the reply was you'll be in busy responding to your emails from tiger fans.

A year or two ago there were PRE t-shirts at the cricket in India (I think it was there) Don't think anyone ever owned up who they were though.

Not quite the same, but I wore my Tigers jumper at the 2 international rules series in Dublin in Oct 04. Felt very proud! ;D

And rightly so. It would have been the best jumper in Ireland. :clap

Good stuff disco. I gave some Tigers gear to my Scottish cousin when he was out hear a few years back. It never hurts to try and convert people of other nationalities to our awesome Tigers. ;)

i prefered to wear my VB t-shirt when i was in europe in 2003 but when i spend 12 months there in 2 years time i will be buying a richmond top and wearing it whenever there is a TV camera around :gotigers

I saw this during the 1st test also.

I couldn't believe that the commentators actually knew it was a Richmond jumper, and going by the " not having any supporters left " comment, it would seem that the commentators must know a bit about AFL football as they realise Richmond have been a struggleing team.

The commentators then said they were expecting a few emails to come in after those comments.  Does anyone have a email address I could send to?  I am not sure what South African TV network is doing the broadcast.

Don't know the email address or the station, but if you find out, ask if they broadcast in black & white or have they moved with the times onto colour?

Haysman was an ex South Australian so would know a bit on AFL

Haysman is an ex South Australian shield cricketer living in South Africa. His knowledge would be limited to the Crows and Power, so take any comments with a grain of salt.

And he a tosser................

Yeah, Mike Haysman was one of the traitors sorry cricketers that went to play against the un-official South African team in 1985. He loved it so much that he stayed to play Currie Cup and didn't really coome back. So I don't know how up to date his knowledge of AFL or Richmond would be. I felt like sending an email during the first test..but not to complain about his comments but those fo the rest of the commentary team, especially Tony Greig! They are truly appalling. 99% of the commentary is about the South Africans..what they have to do to win..who should be bowling...what they are doing wrong... literally barracking for them. It's up there with the Australian commentary of the Commonwealth games!

Great to see a Tiger jumper in the crowd at Durban also.

The message is spreading across the globe. The Tiger is on the prowl!

yeah he went on the rebel tour because he couldn't get a gig in the aussie team despite his prodigous talent...

althought the south african commentators are shocking, i've always thought haysman was a fantastic commentator and i've been secretly hoping for years ch 9 would try to sign him up for the aussie summer...

Yeah Ian, but you think JB is a great commentator. So that puts things into perspective.

Mike Haysman is OK. He used to own and run a bar (Kangaroo Bar) in Jo'burg that would show AFL games. Sometimes same weekend, sometimes a week delayed. AFL is shown a bit in South African TV. There is at least a one hour highlights show every week. He seems to follwo it quite closely. He hosts a Saturday morning sports show and defends Aussie teams and culture quite well.

And if you saw his wife you might understand why he never left Sth Africa.
