PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

The heading is a gross exaggeration but does anyone else feel over the past that they can almost predict a Richmond outcome?

How many times do we lay down as soon as we're favourites and everyone tips us? How often to we perform well against the odds when nobody gives us a chance?

It's not just a thing of the past; look at recent games against Carlton. Some of us here were very nervous about them because people thought they 4 points were a gimme. A couple of years ago the same thing happened when we played the wooden spoon Saints.

It seems to be a real mental weakness within our playing group and I guess it will take time for the new kids coming through to change the culture.

Having said that I'm far more confident for round 1 than I was before yesterday's game.

If we flogged the Bummers we'd raise expectations and be more likely to fail. Seeing we were pantsed the players can't have any false illusions that the wins will just come.

They have to show up to every game prepared to play, something we haven't consistently done in the past.

Watch out Dogs...as long as Mike Sheahan doesn't tip us we'll be primed for the 4 points. ;)
