There's been a heap of hype in the last two years about our list transformation and all the young guns (and 'duds'!) that we have coming through the system at Punt Road. But did anyone notice our senior 18 starting on the ground tonite only includes four genuine youngsters (ie Tambling, Lids, Shultz & Raines).

I'm not saying this is a bad thing, but what it does show is that we seem to have quite a conservative selection policy to start the year (or maybe full stop?)

As the injuries inevitably come to our older players the youngies will be given their chance, but i think they'll have to wait their turn and hopefully this will make them even hungrier (see Raines story for eg.)

Go Meyer, Harts , Roach etc. Bust your gut now coz your still behind chaff, Hyde, Hall and Knob in the queue. they'll either fade away or work hard to prove themselves, and if they have the right attitude, this situation could be paying dividends for years to come, just like the Hawks teams of the 80's where everyone had to serve their apprenticeship.

Don't forget about Foley, wjo is also playing.

Of all the kids, who has actually earned a senior game by playing dominant foootball at Coburg? Foley has, so has Raines, so has Pattison. Jackson, Thursfield and Hartigan are maybes. Deledio and Tambling haven't had to.

The rest need to show that they can develop a winning culture at Coburg, or at least that they can be dominant players, esp when matched against AFL listed players from other clubs. Haven't seen this yet.

Don't forget Pattison as well.

That makes the young players included tonight: Foley, Tambling, Raines, Shultz, Deledio and Pattison.

6 out of 22. A fair ratio I feel.

Agree with thread title. Unfortunately our kids lack the class of Hawthorn so if we do as they do - we wont win a game. I'm not so sure that would be such a bad thing after watching tonight.

Face the facts, we have so many senior career losers on our list:- Richo, Gaspar, Bowden, Kellaway and the worst captain since McManus from Freo.
Its going to take a few more floggings like these to wake Wallace from his deluded stupor, the same
thing that blinded Walls, Geischen and Frawley for years:- OVERATING HACKS AND D U D S!!!!

Richo is no dud! The man cannot do everything. He isn't perfect, no1 is but look at that guy try his heart out. He stood tall across the backline. Our height advantage over the bulldogs 2nite was huge! Who down back stood tall and controlled the play down back RICHO! Then he had 2 try and run the thing up the ground 2 kick the goal himself! Ne1 having a go a matty richardson should have a long hard look at themselves!

Mate this is gonna b a LONG season the way we r heading, already copped 4 msg's abt the loss. And there is only 2 things i can hang my hat on! 1. M Richardson 2. B Delidio
Number 3 would b N brown, but his leg snapped last time i did that!

At least the world cup is on this year!

D U D S!!!!

Diggles it took craigybabes and Ian a few days to work out that adding dud to the swear filter was a temporary joke and it was reversed after a couple of days. They finally gave up typing D U D in an effort to avoid the swear filter.

You are really dragging the chain and don't look quite as clever as you're trying to be, :rofl
