Richmond supporters: the best

I would have loved to have won. The look on the face of the annoying little Saints brat who was chanting Richmond suck on the way to the ground would have been marvelous.

Compare this with the Saints supporters who were very quiet for most of the game but obviously very vocal when they won.

Most St.Kilda supporters seemed to be packed in on L3, as the Richmond Reserved Seat areas on L1 and L2 were sparsely populated in comparison.

Unless people making these comments were also in L3, then it is a bit ridiculous to say that the opposition were quiet when most of 'em were up the top a long way away from a lot of Richmond supporters.

I don't think you have to sit in the same area to see or hear opposition supporters. Did you look at their cheer squad? Very quiet, especially at three-quarter time when the game was in the balance. There seemed to be a fair mix where I was sitting and even though we were behind we were quite loud in cheering on the boys. At the end of the day they got the four-points but I can't help thinking about what the grog-squad chants, "they only sing when they win."

What makes me laugh is that you can only get 'midstrength' beer around the ground, no heavy.....yet can get tanked up on spirits instead! ::)

ctually you can buy full strength beer at the cougar bar and locker room. you just can't take it out to your seats

Yeah, I know that mate....but you can't buy heavy at the small take-away bars around the ground though....yet you can get spirits....crazy! ::)
And like you point out...you can drink heavy at the Food-Court/Locker-Room/Cougar-Bar....yet you can't take it to your seats....whats the idea of that? ::)
Just ridiculous rules these days... :-X

Why not drink at the footy? Having a couple of beers is a social pastime. Sitting in the bar during the game , I have no idea.

Cheers

I spent the second half against the Bulldogs in the Cougar bar to numb the pain of the disaster on the paddock. :flush
I enjoy the social side of a beer before and after the game as well. :beer

I was sitting on Level Three, at the Richmond cheer squad end, and the atmosphere was amazing.  There were heaps of happy, smiling kids with those yellow clapper things having an absolute ball, and cheering their little hearts out.

I haven't heard our fans cheering like this, at the dump, in a long time.  It's normally has no electricity at all, but in the last quarter the roar was phenomenal when we had the ball and were steaming towards our end.  Hope it becomes a consistent part of all of our games.  Would love to be able to out-roar all opposition supporters regardless of the outcome!

I've been to a few finals where it has been awe-inspiring, but am really looking forward to the match at the new G, when it's a sellout and our mighty Tiges are beating the pants off the opposition.  The cheering would be heard in Ferntree Gully!

Re the bars at the dump - am also perplexed about the concept of sitting in a bar and watching the game on a screen.  Did this at our nabbed cup game and vowed I would never do it again.  The beer was good, but seemed to defeat the purpose.  Why pay 20 bucks to get in when you can go to a pub for free?

On the contrary, the way Richmond play it should be more a question of how can you NOT drink at a RFC game?

Not all Richmond supporters are great.

The Locker Room doors weere closed AGAIN on Friday night because of fights outside.

No wonder opposition fans hate us at times.

boo hoo.   :'(

GO TIGES!!!

It wasn't the point about the bar being closed off, more than they were starting blues again ... I used to stand there too but you want to explain why almost every game needs to end in fights?

I will defend our supporters here. With three minutes to go 20-30 St Kilda supporters suddenly turned up to double the numbers they had in the immediate vicinity. Silly bastards were looking for trouble and when one raised his fist to a female Tiger they got it. Still, only a handful of people involved and very tame all things considered.

Poor Locker Room, make a killing before and during the game pouring grog down people's throats and then get anxious when a few people have too much and dish out a few slaps.  ::) Last year three or four Melbourne supporters spent the first three quarters drinking in the Locker Room and then ran out and bushwhacked unsuspecting Tigers standing there watching the game.

You watch, there will be a huge security presence when we play Sydney where there wouldn't be any trouble anyhow. Of course they're nowhere to be seen whenever there's even a remote chance of a problem.

LOL

My point wasn't really that I cared that the Locker Room was closed, just that it highlighted to me exiting the ground that there was trouble again.

& I fail to beleive that the Richmond boys were not at least partly at fault ... How many times before has that particular group been involved in fights?

I can name at least two occasions last year to start with ...

That particular group is the richmond grog squad and they have been standing there for a long long time. There are often blues around there, most often provoked by opposition fans who don't like the singing and mouthing off etc. As someone who enjoys standing in this area ( and who's never had a blue at the footy), which is obviously a heavily richmond area, I find the grog squad atmospheric and enjoyable. Mind you, there are some pretty heavy people there, but they only react when provoked as some st kilda people found on friday night.

I know who it is Giallo... & I know the 2 girls involved, been trying to get the story from 1 of them.

To claim the boys never start the trouble is drawing an exceptionally long bow...

In their defence though, I should say it's only @ Telstra Dome that this seems to happen. Never at the G in a real standing room area.

Not saying Grog Squad are lilywhite, but definitely get targetted by idiots from other clubs. Almost never happens at the MCG and everyone went to Kardinia Park without even a hint of trouble -- why is that?
