Richmond v Adelaide match day thread

Pro-stats has him as 26 touches, 19 effective and 1 turnover. Not great but hardly the worst performance of all time. From what I saw I'd have to say that's the general impression I got from watching the game as well.

disco what im saying is u look at lids or cotchin or Cuz (most of the times) they set up the play and get us moving, lids had more handballs but gee he got us going with some long handballs which by memory all hit their target bar 1....His kicks were spot on too, one to nahas "goal", to Gus "goal" and another one which just escapes me...

Im not even needing to look at stats, i think it was lynch by memeory who said jaksons kicking was at 50% not where u want to be at, but not even commentators needed to tell me that, all im saying is watch the game and have a look at jacksons disposal and most important his decison making and ul see what im articulating here...I was dumb founded with some of his kicks they were nothing kicks....

I laugh when some people say oh not sure if lids will be an elite midfielder, he is an elite midfielder, jackson works damn hard and i am stoked for him for the way he has taken his game to the next level but he will "never" be elite unless he disposal and decison making is in elite category..
Lids, Cuz and Cotchin they have elite skills, elite awareness and elite decison making u either have it or u dont...Bling i would say has it about 75% which is above the pass mark and is improving at the rate of nots...

On lids and our other young mids like bling and cotchin (still a baby though cotch) what they need to do more of is run hard like a cousins, BTW lids and bling ran the most with 544 and 542 meters respectively on sat nite..

On another matter ive never seen so much sheparding from our players, newman, post, lids, hislop etc....this should be the norm week in week out, it just goes to show how terrible wallace was...

Yeah, no doubt it wasn't his best performance Astute but everyone's entitled to an off day now and then. Deledio had one earlier in the year where if you took it in isolation you'd delist him the next day. All I'm saying is that IMO it wasn't as bad as you are making out in that he did in fact hit his target quite a few times.

So this bunch of softcoks needed a change of coach to turn it on, this has been the trend this club puts on every time a new coach comes in, they put on a competitve display and over time the relationship between them and coach becomes stale, *smiling* bunch of pretenders.

not sure GPB, just think it wasnt ingrained early on from wallaces tenure, some coaches demand contiunous pressure and sheparding you dont do it ur off or dropped...

Wallace not for tackling or extreme pressure or sheparding for ur team mates our players have become lazy and a new coach can and should instill this in their mindset...

this is not directed at you but some posters get confused with his hard inside work but dont take to much notice of what he then does with the ball.
I really dont know why he stabs the ball for a pass, tivvas used to do that and most times they were daisy cutters...

Anyway in terms of "an off day" if we are talking his skills or decision making then its more times than not not the other way around...

He's tough as nails and works damn hard and at times his passes hit their intended targets but it aint the norm for jackson thats what im trying to say here, Tuck for all the grunt and clearances he too butchers more of the ball for my liking ...if as u said lids or even a cotchin or Cousins have an off day most would agree its an off day as more times than not their skills are sublime.

Agreed but these guys are elite users of the ball. Very few inside mids or taggers are blessed with the skills of guys like them. That's what makes a champion midfielder a champion.

another way to look at it and agree that most inside types or taggers are not elite users of the ball but i beg the question then can we afford to have jackson and tuck and to a lesser extent foley starting on the ball at the same time well there has been a slight change to that with Jade but TW had those 3 always starting in the center square, sure we won the clearances many times but we butchered the ball therafter like no 2moro...

Not sure if it's been mentioned already but I was really pleased to see a few players hand pass & block the chaser the other night. Riewoldt, Newman and another that escapes me were exponents of it.
Obviously they have been working on it at training because up until now that type of play has been sadly lacking at Richmond.
Cuz has brought that into play, no doubt. Good stuff. 8)
