Richmond V Bulldogs (Game Day Thread)

I thought Knights was very effective and great to see him get through the 3 quarters. He adds a touch of class and composure in our forward half. I hope we can find a spot for him over the next month and let him build up his fitness, because he could have some huge games for us.

Fitness pending Knights should play. IMO he is comfortably in our best 22. Touch of class, good size and uses the pill well. Can never have too much of that.

Thought we got screwed by umps today but we did get rub of the green last week against saints. Gotta take bad with the good and to win so comprehensively today, I am very confident next week. We need to ignore umps and just play every contest. Have been good so far & time to step up against the big boys. Really looking forward to the G in finals atmosphere next week. Go Tigs.

Going there I was concerned that they can at times put in a shocker and either lose or just get over the line against a poorer side, but they should have put the Doggies away like they should have the Blues when we missed all those gettable shots.

The umpiring was extraordinary, we were either getting gipped or receiving a charity free - the shepherd in the goal square just about happens every week as does the legitimate bump when a player is kicking the ball!! I think I counted 6 frees against Jack alone!

Still got a lot of improvement - twice during the third qtr both Newman and Knights should have kicked the ball further down the field to easy targets in Maric and Lids who were making space, but chose to pass the ball back around the back line chewing up some time and ultimately turned both over. Plenty of times we tried to take on the player and just butchered it, we have to clean that up for the next 3 games.

The blow torch is about to be applied over the next 3 weeks - will be a great learning curve for the team.

Bring it on i say, if we want to be the best, we have to play and beat the best, the media will say they are looking forward to these next 3 weeks for Richmond to see how we go, but how mant of them will be hoping like hell we drop all 3 so they can sink the boots into us.

We kick like we did in the first Qtr against the good sides and they will make us pay. 3 weeks in a row now the kicking for goal has been frustrating :help

Good win today. Dominated 95% of the game. Must stop missing easy set shots.

3 things.

1 good article by Crawford in Sun this morning.

2 free against Rance just before half time was ridiculous. Rance had free, Dog player ran into protected area. Ump didn't even call play on. Rance pushes him away. How the hell was it against Rance?

3 can't wait for next week. The Pies might kill us, but it is huge for us. A massive game. We go into it with confidence and belief. Instead of thinking/hoping for a good performance, we believe we are a chance. Imagine if we won. Even if we have a respectable loss, we will know we are close. If we get thrashed, well we'll know where we are and that we will have a long way to go to be top 4. Can't wait to play them anyway, for a change.

In truth I actually think that the Tiges are a bit of a crowd favourite atm. People like barracking for the underdogs. You did say journo though didn't you, yes they're a lot more questionable and will no doubt be happy to write about the negative if they can.

Two posters in those six, and one punched through, but at least three complete misses.

That first qtr was so frustrating with all those easy misses but glad after qtr time we got our kicking boots on and never looked back...

That one had the guys on ABC radio totally stumped. Stan Alves was still shaking his head about it for a long time after that passage of play.

IMO the Bulldogs are not a bottom four side. They put their best team on the park. Their players threw everything they had at the game. There was a lot of outside ball but the crushes were fierce.

We were just far too big and strong for them, too experienced, cleanly putting them away by a lazy 67.

I think I heard it on After The Game (FOX) that the 67 point loss actually flattered the Dogs... Scarey to thing once we kick straight and provide even higher quality delivery inside 50 what this team is capable of.

On the verge of going to games EXPECTING to win, not just hopeing.

It did flatter the Dogs. We should have been 67 points up at half time....poor conversion again hurt us. I struggle to remember a game where we have been so dominant all over the ground as we were yesterday.

We had numbers at every contest and players running around by themselves for half the day.
