The recruitment team that picked Ryan is gone so not much anyone can do about that now. Will be interesting to see what happens with the third year of his contract, will it be honoured by another year or paid out ? None of us know what we have in terms of the kids as very few have played enough games yet to make a meaningful call on their abilities. I have my doubts on a couple but hoping to be proven wrong.

Reckon we'll honor it, if we can't get someone else in. I'd prefer give a VFL guy a chance.

So, this is just a rant.

We offered him a re-contract on the basis that he'd improve as he was fairly Inexperienced at AFL level. He wouldn't be on "good money", he'd be on low money to below average money.
It was speculative and he hasn't furnished as hoped.

He was drafted and got 2 years.
At the end of that period, he got 2 years. Don't think there was too much issue here.
Then towards the end of that contract, he got 3. I don't think the was too much issue re-signing him then - think the issue was the length. Should have been a 12-24 month extension, maximum. If it had been, we'd be delisting him this year without the risk of payout.
Blair was overzealous on the last one.
If he could put on 10kg he might be a chance, but if he hasn't done it in 6 years, don't see it happening in 7.

Maybe if he had some to throw around, he'd have the ability to do so, and could hold his position etc. I know he has his limitations, but he's no where near strong enough.

Fair enough. But there has to be real doubts over the S &C team along with plenty of questions re current recruiters, given repeat injuries and clear deficiencies. Sure, l hope they all have great careers but excuse me for wondering atm.

Once you go down this path, you have to nail the drafting. Some other clubs, even the Dees, now doing just that.
Meanwhile, we have gone down the same rabbit hole signing another huge ex-basketballer. Deja Vu.

One time today he found himself in the clear and started to sprint. Looked like a baby giraffe trying to run carrying another giraffe on its back.

In his early days he lacked bulk but I feel he was more mobile. With the added bulk came less mobility and no added strength. Poor bugger.

You can see him trying often but he just hasn't got the capacities required.
It's easy for all of us on here to hate on this guy. But, seriously, is he due all the blame?

Too many posters on here, l label them 'group thinkers' do this. The club can do no wrong in their eyes, just dump on the inadequate players.
But they didn't put themselves on the list or write their own contract deals.

Sheet home the blame where it belongs. We have plunged rapidly back into the doldrums and sold a supposed rebuild led by brilliant youth. But is that actually true; is it happening?

VFL team smashed by the skunks last week and belted in Q4 by Bloos today. Belted by everyone at AFL except the Bummers, who will still take the pick 1 we desperately need.

I don't know the answers but I know what l'm seeing is ineptitude, in several areas.

I concur, Blair has rocks in his head if he thinks Ryan was ever going to make it.
