Richmond vs Coburg Intra Club Praccy game this Friday

The thing I think DT has harnessed through Jake is some genuine chat and voice. He would have noticed it immediately on his arrival, how quite the group were. My biggest crit of Wallace / Johnson was the abysmal silence of the team (oh and the lack of sticking tackles) - we had a mute for a captain.

Their gee up before the game in the rooms was subdued even when they were trying to gee up. On the ground it seems near silence at times. I've never ever seen or heard a more silent group of players. It seemed like the longer Wallace's tenure went, the more tha chat dried up out of a fear or reluctance to speak out - well speak out they did eventually!

DH is certainly working on the talking aspect. When i visited training last week, he got into Browne about his talk (or lack of) and at one point yelled at him something along the lines of "if ya not gonna speak up and demand the ball you can *smile* *smile* off!! :hihi :hihi later he got in to a couple of other players during a drill to let their team mate know what's going on! he seemed to really be pushing it that day, and I notice how much talking seemed to be going on during the practice match too so it seems to be sinking in!

I'm sorry i just do not see it. People follow a side because they grow up with it.

sorry TM thats just an ignorant response....in part yes people like us will grow up who our folks follow but not everyone you're pretty much categorising everyone in one bracket and thats not right.....Not everyone is like us meaning some parents who are not overly into footy wont really care who their kids follow so when kids are at school and have to decide who to follow sure their mates will say hey join our team etc etc could be richmond or carlton or essendon, pies etc but many kids at school could just be swayed by the fact that richmond have a base at Cragieburn...

I understand that kids also follow teams with success and in the future we will have success i have faith in hardwick, many kids also follow and support teams who are based in their suburb/community as mentioned above, many kids will be swayed by the players attending their schools, footy clinics, hospitals, family day, VFL games etc etc and as Baloo said kids just wondering down to see training and seeing their footy heroes, the tiger emblem, the colours perhaps even getting an autograph etc etc believe me many will come on board or will be swayed one way or another....Ive said this before we aint gonna get them all not even half but u have to look long term 5, 10 years + and surrounding areas....

How many other clubs have a 2nd base worth close to 9 million and an opportunity to tape into a growing market like Craigieburn and its surrounding areas...Oh yeah and it didnt cost us a cent...

How many did they get out in Whoop Whoop?
1500-2000 is the figures I have heard bandied about.
Pretty good for an inter club game I'd suggest.

Richmond may be the home of the club and always will be but not all it's Tiger supporters are based there obviously. Many young folks parents may live in the heartland but there's a whole new generation of young families on the outer suburbs. I can certainly see some sense to the Craigiewhoop decision.

absolutely, well put oldie...nearly 2,000 for an intra club thats massive, if it was at gosh's paddock or maybe vic park a few hundred at best...

Alot has been said about jake king, i was totally against him ever wearing the jumper, but after the collingwood game i was rapt the way he attacked the ball and didaks head. people think that didak gave king a bath, i dont! every time he went near the ball he knew a hit was coming.
Hardwick wasnt the best kick or the cleanest player but he was very intimidating, remember the final in 2001?.
I reckon he see's some of himself in the way king plays. I said that any player that bumps, pushes and dosent mind a bit of a biff will be playing under hardwick..

Absolutely spewing I missed the intraclub.

Sounded like an awesome arvo.

Thanks for the pics.

I hope King has a big one this year.

The King bagging disease has got to stop!

How deep's that hole getting mate ;)

No hole here champ.

I have clearly won the debate as the "other" arguments are based around what she may have meant rather than said

As a Richmond supporter I could really use your ablity to percive obvious defeat as a victory

I think Jake King has won the title from Tambling as the most talked about player on PRE.

When he continually delivers as he should, plays sensibly, stops making stupid mistakes through misguided aggression, stops giving away dumb kicks I may consider not bagging him but until then he remains the whipping boy for me!

Sorry, I was at the game and King and the tigers got a bath. It was pathetic. Didak intimidated was he? What rot. Sorry, don't agree we should rely on a 5ft 9 guy to be your enforcer.

Hardwick was a pretty talented footballer to go with the hardness.

Would prefer to see us outplay the opposition with speed, skill, teamwork (more shepharding, blocking, bumping, etc) than worry about hitting guys when they've got the ball. Let's focus on the ball and protecting teammates who have got it.

I also had a look on Friday, was very impressed with the grounds size, surface and structure, very good ground for viewing footy. On the game like Im sure many have said it was hard to judge how the boys truly performed considering the opposition, anyway very impresed with the starting midfield group, Cotchin just has to stay fit to be mentioned in the same breath as other great Tiger mids, composure under pressure and the abilty to turn the jets on when needed stood out to me. Big statement however IMHO Martin is Voss tough you can see he just wants to hurt people, wouldnt be at all conserned about him getting pinned a few times the other evening, broke a lot more tackles then the ones that stuck, he is one powerful unit. Lids is the pefect complement to the other 2 mids, felt he linked up very well the other night and would think he had the most possitive metres.

Thomson was also possitive with his extracting

Big possitive was the form of Dan Connors of half back, class, like the fact Hardwick can see the talent, also thought Eddie and Tambling were very good across half back too , all three took on players and pushed forward not sideways.

Taylor showed great signs with his chasing and his pure class, looked a great X factor ;) forward.

Didnt see anything over exciting from the Ruck division, Gus is now a monster.

Polo no doubt played well his marking was top notch, weather he makes it forward or not I like that DH is thinking outside the square.

Like the fact they did play some good possitive footy, however would have like to have seen more dominance from the talls

Bit harsh on the talls CC. It was windier than me after a big beer n chillies night out at Craigieburn, made it very difficult for the talls to get some decent marking opportunities. There was enough contesting from the talls and bringing the ball down for the runners for mine.

thanks everyone for your reports and feedback. It's been great. I've read the whole thread and looked at the pictures - is it just me or is bling a lot bigger this year? he looks really solid around the legs and hips now. he had good guns last year but he seems to have worked on his core.

i don't think we'll win too many games this year but how exciting is it to watch this kids coming through. i ust can't wait for the season to start

Definatly took the wind into consideration, however in a team that wins by 20 plus goals against sub standard opposition, I would have like to see a bit more from the big fellas as it will only get harder
