Richmond vs Coburg Intra Club Praccy game this Friday

Just got back from watching the 1st 3 qtrs (of 6 apparently) and i can confirm a few things!

Dustin Martin will play plenty of senior football this year! unbelieveable is all i can say! he is huge for an 18y.o and can he find the pill or what! never seen a kid under so many packs! had an injury scare in the 3rd but seemed to shack it off and jog off the ground so hopefully nothing!

Polak up forward is looking ok! taken a few strong marks and although he missed some goals kicking into a strong wind he is moving very well and the strong hand are back!

Polo up forward is a stroke of genius, he looks brilliant and natural as a forward and he has put on some serious size!

Thompson is my tip to be the player to suprise everyone, finds the pill, uses it well and has a big body and desicion making is 100%.........big year coming up imo

Lids Cotch and Cuz! nothing needs to be said, they are all class!

Edwards is coming along nicely across the half back, a little more size an he would be perfect.

Jack is very big across the chest and arms and looks strong enough to hold a KPF post for sure.....didnt get involved too much but id expect to see serious improvement from him this year!

I have to go out for dinner but will answer questions when i get home! oh an the sen reporters are way off! Richmond are flogging them!

Apparently Cotch has been starring so I guess we can all now acknowledge what a wonderful jog the fitness staff have done in tailoring his program... :clap

But bloody good to hear though.

Apparently Poly doing well, but his yips around goal have not deserted him yet.

Thanks Nugget. Gotta love all these training reports and stuff. They make you sound like you're going to win the flag. :hihi

I'd be interested in who actually struggled in an intra-club match vs Coburg. Good to hear about Cotch/Martin though. :)

I imagine when you were in Australia last the tigers were a predominantly Eastern suburbs team, with a heartland somewhere approximating Mt Waverly. Given that area is demographically the centre of Melbourne Meltropolitan, and only two other clubs, Hawks and Saint vying for potential supporters the perfect place to be one would think.

However, for some reason that still hasn't been explained to me we have cunningly now shifted our focus and home training ground to the North Western suburbs. An area, already saturated with powerhouses Collingwood, Essendon, Carlton and the desperate for new support North Kangas and of course many miles from the suburb of Richmond

Genius, really.
Tigerforce I understand is because the local officals have spent a lot of money to build yhe infrastructure to attact our presence. In any case I think Richmond is like most of the big intercity clubs and is now attracts following across melbourne

Good to hear about the increased size of some of the players, if any club needs big bodied players it's the Tigers.
SEN are probably getting their reports off Big Footy, that's where they usually get their news from.

Cheers for the report nugget Good to see on tv reports that Polak was without the headgear, so thats further good news in his progress

as a side note......

Ernie Dingo was an interested onlooker as his his nephew is young Taylor .. Needs to tell him to pull his head in and knuckle down and work hard for the rest of the season as a means of undoing some of his of-field discretions

Just before i leave i forgot to mention that Daniel Connors was really impressing me! his ability to read the play was first class and that left foot of his is lethal! still does a few to many "cute" things but doesn't seem to have a problem winning the hard ball now!

be back soon!

Hurry up ;D

Old Craigie still looks ugly but the new area looks nice for young families.

Dusty, or should I say Psycho (opposition players will know what I mean when they look at his face), played well today and looks better than a number 36 guernsey.

Polak did well at FF taking big grabs along with Polo.

Titch did some good crumbing and Lids dominated the midfield.

Not too much to assess considering not even half the team played but for a first view at this ground it's a good start.

Vickery looks like Gas now but faster and at the 1/2 time break I'm sure I saw a twin brother of Dimma.

edwards got plenty of it and used it. Connors looked super fit and great use of half back, gouridis played deep in back line in absence of thursty and did ok. Taylor looks freaky and will be handful for opponents if dedicates himself is very tall and classy. Martin is big boy and will be big asset sooner rather than later. Polo looks better suited to team needs up forward and played like it was his calling. Must add tambling will go close to all australian this year and lids is just a gun

MMmmm, is it just me or someone else out there just a little bit skeptical about Connors winning hard balls against his own? How hard is hard?

Final score for another site

Rich 23.19.157

Cob 2.4.16

Apparently Griffiths also played a bit which is a good sign.

Can someone tell me how the three luckiest AFL footballers in Australia went?

Simmonds, King, McMahon?

Good win by the Tiges. Surely a portend for big season ahead!!!

Simmo and McM didn't play. Kingy was good as a boundary umpire.

I saw the first 4 terms of what was apparently a six term match... by the end of the 3rd all the seasoned players went off and all the youngsters had a go.

Wind was shocking so skills were appropriately affected... players who didnt play in the 4 terms I saw were Griffiths, Nason, Roberts, Thursty, Simmo, Foley... not sure if Hicks was playing for Coburg, if not then he didnt play either. Aside from these few, all RFC players had a run today.

Martin while looking the goods was pinged for holding the ball no less than 5 times after getting a clearance, he will quickly learn he is not the man child playing against kids anymore, and this was his only real let down. Super physique and links up well.

The Cotch is still very small in the upper body but he played really well. In and under and linking up around the ground, a pleasant surprise and credit to the fitness staff.

Lids was a jet, great all round game.

Liked the look of Connors off half back, plenty of dash, precision passes and was indeed getting some hard ball under the packs. He is fitter and stronger and dare I say it, getting results from better application, keep it up DC!

Collo was all class as usual but was sadly left to play with the younger players despite clearly (IMO) being streets ahead of Matt White.

Hislop was strong early up forward, but went off (injury?)

Jack was absolutely terrible and Morton didnt really do too much either.

Of the kids I saw a bit of towards the end, Webberley, O'rielly, Alroy and Dea all looked likely prospects and Astbury showed some very promising signs.

The backline was a rotation of Tambo, Moore, Newy, Connors, Post, Edwards and Rance.

Forward line looks very weak with Polak the focal point taking a couple of strong grabs but kicking is :help

Can answer some questions if I get a chance. The wind really affected the quality of the play today.

Simmo didnt play.
King was the usual King
McMahon came on late and basically played with the young kids against Coburg Reserves, stood out above a subpar opposition.
