Or Essendon..?

We'll see.
Not convinced the Roos are going anywhere but they are better than us.

You surely don't think the roos played the same in Rd 1 as they did against us. They played a bad game in Rd1 got a rocket and played to the level they played last year against us.

Was spewing that all the car parks within 5 km of the 'G' were closed well before the game started. HB and wife arrived at 4.00pm and couldn't park anywhere. Were back home in Lilydale by half-time to watch debacle on TV. Great start to the footy year.

Did you try the Hospital car park on Grey street?

We went in from Chirnside PArk and parked about 40mins before the start.

It's a mute point though isn't it? ???
In answer to to your theory, do you think our team played to the same level as against Carlton?

Again re the Roos we'll see how they go next week won't we.

I dont think the Tigers was as bad as the 40 points. The Kangaroos had an exceptional game in terms of kicking for goal, from the kick in mid-air, to the screw it along the ground from the boundary line, they just couldnt seem to miss. Don't get me wrong, overall we played poorly and missed opportunities and North were generally better around the ground. As for some umpiring decisions, well no need to say anything about that.

Looking forward to next week actually. Reckon we have a good showing against Collingwood.

Absolutely not, we looked pretty flat for most of the match yesterday. 2nd to the ball but more noticeably we just seemed reactive for most of the day and not pro active.

I actually think the score flattered us somewhat Goodies.

Not really oldie, yes we seemed flat for the majority of the day but the umps especially in that 1st Q got them going with some soft free kicks which resulted in goals.

we got smashed inside by a good inside team

we went wide and allowed them to drop back on richo

we were fitter and faster and ran the ball out well but we just wont go direct and when we do we take the wrong option

we had a few too many squibs and a few passengers

Was full by 10 mins into 1st quarter, Frick (after crawling a lap of the G). I wonder how many speeding tickets I got on the way home :help

Why do you say that? North kicked very straight and goaled a fair share of their difficult shots. Everytime the Tigers made a run (at one stage in the 3rd quarter we got back to under 24 points) critical umpiring decision went to them instead of us. Just watching the game I felt alot fell North's way.

We played very well in patches, it was at critical times that we didn't take our opportunities. Never looked like winning it but I think we were better than a 40 point loss.

Accurate. I reckon North smashed us inside. How many times did they drop out the back of a stoppage with no pressure? We were so disorganised.

You just can't say no to CC's - Connors and Coggo (and Cotchin!)

This is so spot on. When they had first hands on the ball they always had numbers on the defensive side and a couple of quick, simple handpasses they were away. We did not wake to this the whole freakin game!

Every time we were first hands we had no one defensive side for the outlet. Every time we just tried to barge through their defensive side numbers hoping for a Foley-like run, or try a Diesel-like miracle handball through the waiting traffic, or just a scrubby kick forward from Simmonds. Whoever is midfield coach should hang his head!!

Dony forget the roller royce Collins

everyone knows that if you tag foley out of the game we are stuffed in the middle

it was plain to see against the roos, our mids would all move backwards out of a pack with their hands out waiting to recieve
the roos mids went into the pack and won the ball and protected the ball carrier

FFS people footy is not that hard these days to be competitive

u need a balance of inside mids that work together and protect each other and a few outside mids that run hard all day and have skill and vision
u dont need the best fwd but you need need a system and a team of fwds that know their jobs and work to a plan (not individuals wanting to get stats and speccy marks) some workin the air some work on the ground, if you dont have it or dont look like getting it you protect your team mate that does, or you chase, harrass and create mayhem by applying pressure that creates goals
your defenders are prepared to leave their man and spoil the contest, protect each other or run hard to make position to give your mate an option, if the ball gets turned over you bust your ass to cover your mates man and apply pressure and a contest

if there were 18 contests around the ground all day you wouldnt give up 20 goals?
