Richo discussion [Merged]

Re: Richo, hindering our future.

Had a gutfull of people bagging Matty.

Dew

I've had a gutfull of one player being our only forward line for the last umpteen years. Time for a change FFS!!! Get our next forward line in place and bloody leave them there and not chop and change as we have in the last few weeks...bloody ridiculous. Play Richo up the ground.

Honestly some people are just so focused on the here and now and wear bloody blinkers. Bloody start to lift your sights and start thinking to the future for gods sake.

Re: Richo, hindering our future.

Tuby,

I don't think Matty would disagree with you....you reckon he's enjoyed the workload??

In one word Yes dew. You dont demand the ball when your on the boundary line.... you work it out with your other . Look i'll decoy whilst you make the true lead and you let the boys upfield know what you are doing. It is not bloody rocket science mate....

Re: Richo, hindering our future.

Shultz so far has not been able to match richo across a number of areas - despite plenty of opportunities and richo is in the twilight of his career and shultz should be on the rise - this ia worry - i have faith in shultz becoming a useful player but richo at shult'z age was murdering opponents!!!!!

Re: Richo, hindering our future.

Looks like posters on either side of the argument will get to see this theory tested over the next month or so.

Yep, injury might be Shulz's saving grace, surely would have been dropped for next week otherwise. Let's see Tuby's and one ot two others theory put to the test over the next few weeks that Schulz isnt performing to his capabilities due to the Richo factor. This could conceivably be break or make time for Schulz.

Re: Richo, hindering our future.

Richo. 18th greatest goal kicker in the VFL/AFL EVER. 'Nuff said.

Ms Tantie.

Re: Richo, hindering our future.

Unfortunately I think with Richo's injury we will get a chance to see just how much he has been 'hindering our future'.

Re: Richo, hindering our future.

Our kids will feel the full force of getting the best defenders wearing then like gloves instead of Richo dragging at least 2 of them with him.
Hope they are up to it. Schulz needs to lift his game now.

Re: Richo, hindering our future.

I dont wish Richo ill....but in tems of development and structure this week will see some exciting stuff. The kids will be keen. They wont have to worry about spats and scowls and hands up appealing as the defender is only metres away. If he was a leader last night when things were tough during the first quarter he would not hav stood there and held his hands up squealing. The game doesnt stop until the whistle is blown. I am looking fwd to seeing what unfolds. A new generartion of hard running hard tackling unpredictable forwards....just a pity Brown is not back just to polish it all off.

Stop bagging Richo

There are those both, Tiger supporters and those who are not who want to bag Richo.

If ever there was a true blood Tiger it is he. When he bleeds he bleeds black and yellow blood. Did not come from another club and has given his all for his beloved Tigers. Sure he is not the best accurate kick in the world, but who else tries his heart out week in and week out, without being the darling of the umpires like Riewoldt and Lloyd. Just remember the severe injuries he has suffered over his career, all for the love of Richmond. Now it looks like more time out of about 6 to 8 weeks with an injured eye socket. Don't believe I have ever seen him shirk an issue either.

It is time we put him up there with the great stalwarts of Richmond, and hope when he retires he is given the recognition due to him. No, I am not a relative or friend, just someone who gets a bit het up over criticisms of one of our true and trusted Tigers.

Graystar despite my bagging of Richo and his value I also agree with your sentiment.

Even the greats lost it near the end. I can recall the pitiful sight of Royce Hart limping off with yet another injury, I can see KB starting to feel the pinch when the game passed him. I can recall Francis Bourke labouring. These guys gave their all for the club. But all things come to pass and I think its almost time to select another number 12.

Very true, but Richo hasnt lost it yet. Kicked 3 last night, should have been 5 and missed quite a portion of the last quarter. Still very quick and agile. When he does start labouring, then is the time to have this discussion.

He's not on his last legs like Hart (both knees gone) and Bourke (34yo).

KB kicked 37 goals playing off the bench in his last year (as a 36yo); of our small forwards, only Daffy (45) and Naish (42) have kicked more in a season since then.

Does god care about Richmond's fate? If so I'd like some kinder treatment from his injury department. :'(
