But when the Hawks picked Roughead at no.2, the Tigers drafting tactics went out the window.

I disagree Phantom; Tambling was highly rated by the Tigers and when he was available at 4, they snapped him up.
If Roughead & Tambling were available at 4, the Tigers would have gone for Tambling again.

Yeah this guy looks great, a super star. The hawks have hit GOLD here.

Should be in the yellow and black. :hihi

You win some and you lose some at the draft table, it's not Tamblings fault where he was picked, most other clubs would have picked him, if not us.

My main concern is MILLER selecting JON for our first round draft pick, this kid just does not look right, i will not sink the boots in as I have never played the game, but we got this one WRONG BIG TIME. I would be too embarrassed to go back to that year and see how other clubs did. I think the DOGS got Higgins?

Great post Hammer.......couldn't have put it better myself.

Buddy Franklin wins my 'Best Bod in the League' Award. My word Kimmy, that man has a jawdropping physique. A mighty fine specimen, a hunkaspunka :P...ok, I've calmed down now.

I really don't understand the obsession PREnders have with him when there are 600 or so other non-Tigers in the league they could be comparing too.

It's easy to understand why people compare as they were picked early in the same draft. Don't agree with comparing but I totally understand why people do.

..and it made sense, the Hawks had the nucleus of a quality midfield already at that point with Crawford, Hodge and Mitchell.

In 2004 we drafted on a needs basis.
Tambling and Deledio gave us skill and speed. No doubt in my mind we needed that in mids that at the time. Unfortunately we had more needs at the time than one draft could bring.

Unbelievably Lewis to date is probably the one we let slip more than Franklin...because of what we were so desperately seeking. He's been terrific for Hawthorn.

I personally have far more issue with Wallace's selection of Meyer at 12. That was the error.

Agree. Regardless of how Richie ends up, I will not hang the club out to dry.

The choice had merit. It made sense. Pick 12 is another story......

Godd luck to Buddy, he is a delight to watch.

That's fine Skills.
But I'm just recounting what Greg told me at the time.

well we can at least start comparing their kicking accuracy GPB , both seem to be very simular , not quiet dead eye dicks !

I saw Buddy at the races going into an icevan set up at one of the member's carparks. Just for a few minutes, then came out. We thought it was a bit odd at the time, but in hindsight maybe he was just icing one of his injuries

Can you imagine having both Richo and Franklin in the same fwd line.It would be like a skit from the Benny Hill show :hihi :hihi :hihi :hihi

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

My post you quoted wasn't about the odd comparison.  I said "obsession" and considering there are hundreds of pages about Franklin on here, when he's not one of our players, I consider the term apt.
