Just an idea, i heard recently that Richo's record from 50+ metres from goal is up around 90%

So why not go back, no matter where he marks the ball and have a shot from that distance. He seems to really kick through the ball when at that distance and stab at it when under that mark.

The other idea when closer to goal, might be to get him to attempt to kick it high into the top deck and/or out of the ground.

He marks the ball at fifty on the left flank, wheels on to the right- playing on- and drills it. Been doing it for his entire career. Money man from the shot.

However, defenders are shutting the play down (that's how long it takes an AFL defender to catch on) and Richo can't kick it as far as he used to. He's lost a yard. He's missing a few from the shot these days.

And he can barely get the journey from the left footers' side (has to be fresh) although his accuracy has improved a lot from what always was a dead pocket for him.

50 plus? It's not the snack it once was for the old boy.

Does this stat include the one's that go out on the full, hit the man on the mark, get tugged hard left and end up in the opposite pocket or get faded out to the right??? You gotta love him.....

Half the problem with Richo's kicking is that every man and his dog has had a go at changing/modifying his action, changing his run up etc and it has just made things worse. Richo naturally runs to the right and uses a hook foot to bring it back. When he is out on the fifty he reverts more to his natural action which is more reliable for him.

As Dermie once said instead of trying to change his action just work with it. Its like playing Golf so many people tell you different things, best thing is to keep it simple.

Towards the end of 1996, Richo's career accuracy was above 64% - equal to Brendan Lade and above Ottens, Neitz and Hall. Apart from the period between 1999-2002 when it remained constant, his accuracy has fallen steadily every season since then.

Maybe he should look at some old tapes and see if there was anything he did differently back then.

They all get worse as they get older (even if the trend isn't quite as perfectly outlined as Richo's) don't they, L2?

Cumulative effect of injury? You'd reckon. Lloyd? Fevola? Once certainties from their preferred angles now look like idiots. Can't make 50- just like Richo.

That's been my observation, Jack. I really should test the theory statistically one of these days.

The enigma that he is, Richo's likely to come out and kick 5.0 this week.

Who will he get? Sam Fisher? Take him to the square. Oh that's right. Richo can't kick em from there. ;D But you're right- expect the unexpected.

I'll back him in for 10 straight this week.

I mean after all we don't really want to win so he's likely to have perfect day with the boot and get us over the line.
