RICHO, I love you but... For the good of the RFC, it's time to retire

time to re-hash this old thread. bit of a dose of reality for richo today. time to retire big fella.

The only reality is that some supporters have short memories. Take a look at the PRE Player of the Year leaderboard, keeping in mind that Richo's played four full games, plus bits of a couple more.

It's all over for Richo, great career, great player but time stands still for no man and it's time to move on.

Why can't we keep him on? He's a free player on the veterans list, the only one who will be eligible for it.
The only place he'll be taking up will be a round 6 or 7 pick in the rookie draft. We already get an extra rookie pick for Bowden going, Nahas will be elevated, maybe Browne will also and we still have a spot or two free I think. Not to mention the GC17 get the first 5 rookie picks.

Having him on the list would not take up a spot for one of the kids. In fact, I'd be happy if we keep him on the veterans list for the next 5 years and sit him on the bench for all our games against the bottom 4 teams, not have him come onto the ground until we make the grand final. We can then plonk him in the goal square with his walking frame and he'll still take their best defender.

I have read your opening posts and some of you ones later and I don't quite understand specifically why you want Richo to retire. Are you able to elaborate a bit more?

Would be a handy replacement if Riewoldt's ribs turn out to be cracked/broken. Sure a forward line of Riewoldt/Post/Morton shows some promise, but our important players have a habit of getting hurt...
