Richo's Marking ?

as richo's 2006 president i declare a smack-bottom for the golden (for making fun of my boy) :P :P (even though it's still 2005)...

One thing I've noticed (moreso in the past 2 seasons) is that when Richo plays deep and the ball is delivered to him, most times he is VERY closely watched by an opponent (sometimes two) and is forced to wrestle/jostle. He always has arms tangled with his opponent's arms (or jumper) and will go for the grab whilst on the back foot (a split second after having out-muscled his opponent). It's quite hard with this 'limited' amount of time to catch the ball with the hands out.

Very true otis my boy, but what about taking the ball out in front when out on a lead?

Thats what I am talking about.

I figured you were talking about that also... (and i didn't have an argument/reason which could logically explain it, apart from his wrist/hand injuries mentioned earlier in this thread). Again i'm not sure of the severity of his wrist/arm injuries but usually that wouldn't justify not using ones hands.

We might have to ask the big man himself about that one (if anybody has the balls to ask him). I met him recently and his handshake was pretty solid, i'm sure he could break every bone in my hand if provoked.

However i will grant this. Richo's marking ability did drop off over head this year and for good reason. I ran into Richo on Brunswick St in Fitzroy not long after the season ended and it wasn't his knee he'd had operated on!!

He had plaster from his elbow to and including his hand because of tendon problems.
Tick, tick, tick...
One can't help but feel that father time is catching up with our mighty warrior.
Geez I hope he has an injury free season. After all the injuries Richo has had to deal with throughout his career he's due for some luck. It is easy at times to be critical of all of these guys without knowing the true extent of their injuries. It's a punishing game on the body these days at the elite level.

I hope not, ToO. Can I draw the conclusion that you mean shoulder, frick? Or was it the publoicised thumb? I hope the latter. They heal after a two years or so. Largely. Shoulders never heal.

No, the plaster was from his elbow to and including hand. Nowhere near his shoulder thank God.

I know from first hand experience what shoulders are like.
