Riewoldt & Edwards

I disagree. Neither of these players have really hit their stride yet. What I want is for these guys to not get a nomination this year, to not have played 11 games so they are both realistically in the running next year. If they get nominated this year then that is it and they wouldn't get a look in realistically on their performances.

I'd prefer to see them play 22 games next year and our first pick in the Nat. Draft get the Rising Star pize next year. We need a min of 1/2 doz. promising young stars to take us into the future.

If Shane plays the rest of the year will play 17 games for the season would not be eligible next year don't expect him to win just a nomination!!

It would be pure tokenism if either of these guys got a RSA this year.

They are well behind those who have got one this year, get serious, risk them otherwsie becoming an "also ran" like half the list above in historical terms.

If Edwards & JR can continue to perform as they did on the weekend for the rest of the year then it wouldn't be tokenism!!

They'd have to earn it, d12.

So is it better if they don't earn a nomination?

No mate, if they get a nomination, they are deemed to have earned it most would say. If you see it as tokenism, that's your cop on it only.

Selwood would be over the line if he can mirror his past games to the rest of the season - proably even win it still with some mediocre games. Davey was great early too, Gibbs OK, but this kid Selwood is "speeeeeeeeeecial" isn't he Bruce?

From where I sit hard to see them getting it, Jack would almost need a BOG between now and year end (beyond him) based on his small amount of games played this year and stats in today's footy wrt Edwards (unfortunately for him) are not indicators as they used to be. You'll find that those that get it play 2-3 servicebale games in a row and then a ripper and typically do a couple special things contradicting their experience to set them apart, seen neither from our two boys but another pre-season and next year who knows.

Instead of individual awards I would like to see the TEAM win something....

Duncan Kelaway was that good he got nominated twice. It must have been the exquisite skills.

The sad thing about that list is how few of those Richmond players went on and developed into outstanding, consistent senior AFL footballers.

Interesting that as youngsters both Hartigan and Schulz were nominated in Frawley's final year.
Both have gone backwards under Wallace and have been up against it since he stepped in the door.
