Agreed mb. The fact that there are so many good talls in this draft probably won't help Kel get another year.

Roach would still be eligible for the rookie list, so that may be a useful option if the club thinks he's worth persisting with but wants to clear some places on the list for new draftees.

BTW, those talls in this year's draft won't really be coming online for 2-5 years, which could still buy Kel some time.

To me, there should be 3 definite terminations, come seasons end.

Stafford, Gaspar & Chaffey.

This draft, I'd hope we'd be in a position to add 4, possibly 5, new players to the Senior list. (This does not take account of any Rookie elevations.)
If we successfully trade, predraft, then there could be an opportunity to maintain these players.

If our trading is unsuccessful then maybe an extra place, or two, needs to be created.
All players who haven't been able to establish their territory will be under pressure.

Why would you waste a Tall to fill the BP?This is where i can see Moore,s role[taking over from chubba] if he can get his body right.

Last year, the talk was that the draft at the end of this year will be one of the best ever.

So I would assume we would want to get 3 or 4 or 5 picks in the first 30 or 40.

At this stage I would say only Stafford is certain to finish this year.

Some hard decisions will need to be made. Maybe a younger player might have to be traded for an extra 2 picks in the draft.

Hopefully our high injury rate doesn't continue so all players get their chance to show what they have got.

It's not necessarily replacing Moore's spot with a tall, it's delisting Moore to make room for another pick in a very strong draft. McGuane & Thursfield are both well ahead of Moore and younger. How many 190ish cm defenders do we need?

I agree with Thursfeild.Mcguane on the other hand way to early to call either way.As its stands atm i would be nervous if i was Moore however i hope he does get one last shot at it in his rightful position. In the backline.

Moore = gone. Unfortunate for Kel, but at 23 will become the average AFL statistic for list deletion. Hard but true, cos he does appear to have the desire.

Roach to the Rookie List alah Humm.

All a key component of the list rotation towards success not mediocrity.

I'd just like to see him get on the park and get a sustained run as a defender in order to make the decision. At his height and at 22 it's now or never for Kelvin but injury is robbing him of opportunity.

That's really unfortunate because it's not like we can't use a player of his attributes at the moment.

Remember me?

Problem being, if this draft is so good and so deep, the other clubs will be into it as well.

Every club will be wanting to trade players who have not made it, in exchange for picks.

Which club (apart from the Kangaroos) is going to collect "rejects" when they can dig into the 'superdraft' ?

Not even worth thinking about until much later in the season, when all the necessary factors can be worked in.

Richmond's biggest problem going into the draft, is the same as it has been for the past 2 years.
The players they're prepared to trade, aren't wanted by other clubs at the price Richmond asks.
Every year Ray Hall gets bandied about, Tivendale's name is thrown up, and the cycle continues, Richmond keep them, because they've invested too much in them to delist them, and then have them picked up for nothing by another club.

No-one is going to give up a first or second round pick for the players Richmond are likely to put on the table.

The only players with any real currency in the draft market place, are RFC's untouchables (Richo, Johnson, Brown, Deledio, Tambling and every one drafted in the last two years), and the football dept would be tarred & feathered by the supporters if the club let these guys go.

Richmond will have 4-5 picks, and they'll most likely come from Stafford & Chaffey retiring, possibly Gaspar & Kellaway retiring, and  guys like Humm, Roach, & possibly P Bowden being let go.

Keep both of them!  Moore is the proptotype player of the current millenium, 6 3", lean, fast and reasonable skills.  If he ever gets fit AND gets given an opportunity I beleive he'll be a good player.  Having said that he has been with the club for 3 or 4 seasons now for not much return so some at RFC may be looking at de-listing him.  Roachy too, when fit, will be a good hbf giving us some more pace from the backline.

Understand your idea there Tiger Tim but we got to delist someone as three draft picks in this years draft is not adequate to aid the club going forward in their bid to build depth and talent via quality kids in the draft.

Six picks would be much more appropriate, and the club could easily move out 6 players if not one or two more depending how the season pans out in the end.

Hard decisions will be made at years end

Yes indeed Craig but the 3 de-listings don't necessarily have to come from either of these 2. There is Chaffey, Staff or Knobel and more names who will be traded, possibly for draft picks.

More than we got at the moment brother. :help

Giving away someone with Kelvin Moore's pace worries me. He needs to get fit and in the side fast to prove himself one way or the other.

To be honest the way our season is going, giving those liable to be cut five or six games in a row to prove themselves is something we can probably afford.

Got to give the Bombers a run for that last spot! :spin

Kelvin been around for a few years! Has delivered much, and looks a tad too short for a key role down back and is little slow,

Moore is quite fast, Richo12. Showed that at the 'Richmond olympics'
So is Roach...

i'd be targetting the plodders.

as for list building...we have so many youngsters i don't think we could handle any more than 6

However I don't think we should get any less than 6 either ...I believe the draft quality will be go to the 6th round

so 6.

moore should be given a run of games in the noes this season to see if he's up to it. we dont really have anything to lose by playing him, if he plays well then fantastic, if not then at least we gave him a shot. roach was just starting to find his feet when he got injured.

Good VFL player but i cant see Moore as being the answer to any of our problems, too small for key pozzie.

People want us to have 5 or 6 picks in this years draft and someone has to go so that means both boys are gone.
Lets hope either are rookie listed as well.
