Rodan, Foley, Krakouer

Rodan doesnt have a contract for next year. He only signed a one year contract and paid the base wage.

The Rodan wasnt happy and the club informed him if he had a good year, he'd be offered a contract to reward his performance.

Rodan is out of contract at the seasons end.

Much as I hate to say it, but it looks ominous for Rodan given his contract situation. Having a good year is only possible if you're actually given the chance to HAVE a good year, and Rodan was given a start, then got dropped for three months. Hopefully he's not tossed next week. If he is, he won't play for Richmond next year, I feel.

It does annoy me a little that players like Krak seemly get a free ride based on their ability to win the occasional game, while less flashy but more consistent performers such as Rodan get shafted. But I won't Krak bash, he's obviously earned his right to play seniors and I take my hat off to him for doing so. But whats wrong with rotating Krak occasionally, just to keep him on his toes?

Rodan was signed for 2 years. Performance based I believe, but 2 years.

oh come on rodan has played 61 games in 5 yrs at the club. how many games does he need to show hes good enough to make the grade. apart from a few flashy runs in his early days under spud rodan has failed miserably HE HAS NEVER BEEN CONSISTENT, he has some talent and might be a nice bloke but enough is enough. as for krakouer you could say the same thing except ak has had 30 odd more games.
the club needs to participate strongly in the next draft i feel we need to utilise at least 7 picks and krakouer and rodan are 2 who have been given every opportunity to prove themselves they have failed they have to go.no more excuses for these underperforming duds.

I agree.

There was one particular piece of play on Sat night which put the writing on the wall for Rodan as far as I'm concerned. It was in the right fwd pocket at the scoreboard end. Danny Meyer had taken on 3 Sydney players right on the boundary line & worked his arse off to keep the ball in play with Rodan running along outside the Sydney players. Meyer tapped the ball forward into space for Rodan to run onto & Rodan just continued to jog along! This is the ideal situation for a player of his size - the ball tapped into space for him to run onto & he just didn't go after it. He should have swooped on this for a little bloke's goal. Pathetic effort IMO.

Rodan had 8 tackles. In a side that lacks the ability to put pressure on I would say that earns him a spot next week.

I also think Rodan, Foley and Krak are very different in the roles that TW sets for them. Rodan is more a defensive forward, his work to keep the ball in the forward line on saturday was passable. Krak is more creative and Foley is midfield all the way.

Hopefully Rodan we find some form as a small leading/crumbing forward over the next few weeks.

If he doesn't he will stuggle to stay on the list!

Foley's been oustanding & will be a long term player. His toughness, vision & skills are there for all to see!

Rodan's gone should never have offered him a new deal after he kicked up a stink about money. Show him the door in no uncertain terms he's had his chances to impress but just goes about it the same way. Would've rather seen Patto play would've given us a foil for Simmo.
